THE GARDEN OF EMOTIONS
WE EXPERIENCE MANY EMOTIONS, BUT THERE ARE 6 THAT ARE THE SAME FOR EVERYONE, EVEN ANIMALS! THEY ARE CALLED PRIMARY EMOTIONS.
Let’s imagine them as a beautiful garden with lots flowerbeds, filled with different flowers of different colors and different shades. Complete the flower beds with the flower stickers which correspond to each emotion.
Now you can create your own little garden of emotions! Go outside and look for things that express each of these emotions. Get 6 glass jars – one for each emotion – and fill them with the things you found.

THE MAZE OF SAD THOUGHTS
WHEN WE’RE SAD, WE GET LOST IN A MAZE OF NEGATIVE THOUGHTS.
Follow the maze and find your way out. Use the sunflowers to help you find the right way.
THE KITE
BUILD A KITE, THEN GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY. THE WIND WILL BLOW YOUR SAD THOUGHTS AWAY, AND THE KITE WILL FLY REALLY HIGH, MAKING YOU SMILE.
WHAT YOU NEED:
-A sheet of craft card, any color you like
-A piece of cardboard, or a piece of lightweight fabric
-A tape measure, or a ruler
-A utility knife (or scissors)
-Two wooden sticks
-A ball of string
-A plastic bag
-Scotch tape.
1-Draw a cross on the card. The vertical line must be 16 in, and the horizontal line 15 in. The point of intersection must be 5.5 in from the top of the vertical line.
2-Join the ends of the lines to create a rhombus: cut it out.
3-Using the knife, or the tip of the scissors, cut a small cross at the point of intersection (get an adult to help you!).
4-Prepare the 16 in and 15 in sticks, and place them on the vertical and horizontal lines of the rhombus. Secure the ends with scotch tape on the corners.
5-Cut out strips from the plastic bag – they can be whatever size you like – and attach them to the corners of the rhombus, as if they were tails.
6-Feed the string through the hole in the center of the rhombus, inserting it from the side without sticks. Wrap it around the point where the sticks cross and tie a knot, so as to secure them.
MY JOY BOARD
COMPLETE THE BOARD WITH ALL THE THINGS THAT CREATE A SENSE OF CALMNESS, SO YOU CAN GET YOUR JOY BACK WHEN YOUR FEELING SAD.

THE STRATEGIES DICE
WE CAN USE STRATEGIES TO DEAL WITH EMOTIONS.
ACTIVITIES TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE OF ANGER:
BLOW ON A PINWHEEL SEVERAL TIMES, USING ALL YOUR BREATH.
SING YOUR FAVORITE SONG AT THE TOP OF YOUR VOICE.
ACTIVITIES TO DISPEL SADNESS:
THROW PILLOWS ON THE FLOOR, USING ALL YOUR STRENGTH.
JUMP AS HIGH AS YOU CAN, UNTIL YOU’RE TIRED OUT.
DO A DRAWING, THINKING ABOUT ITS COLORS UNTIL YOU FEEL CALMER.
ASK FOR A LONG HUG.
TELL SOMEONE WHO LOVES YOU HOW YOU FEEL.
PLAY SOME CALMING MUSIC AND MOVE TO THE RHYTHM.
BROWSE THROUGH YOUR FAVORITE PHOTO ALBUM.
SMELL SOME FLOWERS FOR A FEW SECONDS.
DRAW SOMETHING YOU REALLY LIKE TO DO.
DANCE CRAZILY TO YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC.
WHEN YOU’RE HAVING A HARD TIME, USE THIS QUICK SOLUTION FOR FINDING STRATEGIES TO OVERCOME STRONG EMOTIONS.
Cut out the red and blue cubes. Attach one of the stickers at the back of the book on each face, respecting the colors of the frames: red for anger, blue for sadness. When you’re feeling extreme anger or sadness, and don’t know how to get rid of them, throw your dice and try to put one of the proposed strategies into practice.
