After a complete recovery, his return to the races in 1927 was a fiery one. He came in first at the Circuito di Alessandria, inaugurating a season of victories throughout 1927 and 1928.
The year 1929 was crucial for Enzo, as it was the year he founded Scuderia Ferrari. At first, the company was not Ferrari as we know it today; rather, it was a workshop that provided mechanical and technical assistance to Alfa Romeo cars. While the Ferrari brand itself would not be officially founded until March 12, 1947, Scuderia Ferrari, the Ferrari racing team, remains the main division of Ferrari’s racing department to this day.
“One day, I will no longer be here. I hope that the red cars bearing my name will continue to exist even after I’m gone, and will bring honor to themselves on all the world’s circuits.”
This was Enzo Ferrari—a visionary whose legacy does not rest on a few sportscars, a victory, or a factory, but rather on a dream, carried forward with a clear-sighted gaze, confidence, and an entrepreneurial, innovative spirit that still defines the city of Modena, its factories, and its workers.
