FROM CHAPLAIN GRAY LITTLE Recently a teammate’s mother, father, and sister passed away from COVID, all within the same week. I have been ministering to him in an effort to bring comfort back into his life. I helped him in making the arrangements and made sure he had everything he needed for the funeral. I consistently check in with him and pray with him to monitor his progress through this time of grief.
“One of the great things about being a chaplain is being able to “see” and recognize when a teammate is struggling with an issue even if they don’t say anything at first. As a chaplain, I “break the ice” so the conversation can take place at the pace of the teammate. We all struggle with so many issues of everyday life. Having a chaplain available to them is always an asset to the teammate.”

FROM A COKE TEAMMATE
He provided her with some understanding of grief and spiritual guidance. He continues to check on her weekly and I am forever grateful to have a Chaplain in our lives.
Each year my daughter and I go on an annual trip. This year was different, as my typically happy, uplifting daughter was drowning from the effects of the pandemic due to her being an ICU nurse. She recently lost three of her patients in one week due to COVID. The trip went well, but after returning home I knew that she slipped back into depression. After the trip I reached out to someone I knew who could help, our Coke Consolidated Chaplain. He spent two hours listening to my daughter as she cried and expressed her emotions. He provided her with some understanding of grief and spiritual guidance. He continues to check on her weekly and I am forever grateful to have a Chaplain in our lives.
