A teammate with a rough past recently confided in me about struggling with the guilt of his past and questioning his forgiveness of sins. Through our conversation, we discussed how God’s forgiveness is complete through Jesus Christ and how He has separated us from our sins as far as the east is from the west. We also talked about how in the fullness of God’s forgiveness, we can have the strength to forgive others, including ourselves. The teammate prayed to rededicate his life to Jesus. As I continue to keep in contact with him and pray for him, he has expressed his gratitude and considers me his friend. This experience has reminded me of the power of forgiveness and how it can bring healing and restoration to our lives.
A teammate was struggling to complete various projects on their parent’s house, which needed to be done in preparation for selling their parent’s house. Despite having faith, the teammate was struggling with trusting God to help. After sharing James 5:16b, which emphasizes the power of prayer, I suggested praying together in a more strategic and faithful manner. We wrote down the list of projects and I checked in on the teammate’s progress during my visits. Three weeks later, the teammate reported praying more than ever before and completing some of the projects. This experience taught the teammate the importance of turning to God in times of need and the power of prayer in helping us overcome challenges.
