“OVER SUBSEQUENT WEEKS, I WATCHED HIS DEMEANOR CHANGE. HE’D GIVE ME UPDATES, CREDITING THE LORD FOR THE GOOD THINGS HAPPENING AND EXPRESSING HOPE AND FAITH IN DIFFICULT SITUATIONS.”
I visited a Coke Teammate in the hospital, and it was probably one of the toughest hospital visit I have ever done. The days were tough, and the family did not want me to leave. At one point I was there for 36 hours. Unfortunately, the Teammate passed away. At the funeral, the teammate’s mother, sister and wife told me how much the time I spent with them meant to them and how the teammate respected what I did for him and his family. It was a good feeling to know that what we do makes a lifetime impact.
“I ASKED ABOUT WHERE HE FOUND PEACE AND WHERE HE LOOKED FOR HOPE, BUT HE DID NOT HAVE A SOLID ANSWER. I OFFERED TO PRAY FOR HIM AND PROMISED TO CONTINUE PRAYING FOR HIM DAILY.” I ran into a Coke Teammate that I didn’t recognize delivering Coke Consolidated products to a local grocery store. I introduced myself and he said this was his first week on the job. We talked about Chaplaincy and what my job was for the company. I asked him about his family, and he shared some problems he and his wife were having. I took the time to stop my shopping and listen to the Teammate. I asked him if I could share some ideas with him that I thought would help his marriage. He said “sure” so I gave him some marriage tips about listening to his wife and sharing how he was feeling. He thanked me and I asked If I could pray for him and his wife. I said a brief prayer and got his number to check on him the next week.
