How Can You Be Healthier in 2026 at Every Age? in your 20’s…
The danger for you is when those “whatever” dinners and drinks, and those “whenever” bedtimes become a lifestyle. Your 20’s are the time to develop healthy adult habits - ones that you won’t see the benefits of for a while, but that will change (or even save) your life later. - Drink more water. - Get your sleep. - Eat more things that come from the earth than from a box. - Use sunscreen. - STIs are real.
in your 50’s & 60’s…
While certain things are shifting down, the threats of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, dementia, and cancer among others are on the rise. - Maintain those nutrition and movement habits with strength training and aerobic exercise. - Add brain training to your routine. - Monitor your bone density, hearing, and vision with their own screenings.
There’s a shift in metabolism. While the extra bulge around your mid-section is everannoyingly on your mind, cardiovascular disease probably isn’t. It’s time to crack down. - Drink more water. Limit alcohol intake. - Now you need a sleep routine. - Find something active that you love, and do it. - Get a doc. Prioritize screenings and regular check-ups.
It’s all about maximizing your quality of life. Your social life is more important than ever. Your biggest concern is weaker immune and muscular systems that can lead to infectious illness, falling, and ultimately loss of independence. - Don’t stop moving. Aerobic exercise is still important, but even more so is movement that focuses on balance, flexibility, and mobility. - Nutrition is your number one preventative for frail bones and muscle loss. Protein is boss. - Don’t skimp on your brain training. Keep puzzling, reading, learning, and engaging.
in your 40’s…
You are fully immersed in all the things by now - work, marriage, kids, etc. and your hormones have shifted. You’re also probably on meds you weren’t on 10 years ago. - Now is the time to prioritize strength training for metabolism, hormone support, joint health, and bone density. - Don’t neglect your heart health, cardio is not the enemy. - Do your routine physicals, bloodwork, and cancer screenings.
PROBLEM
Everything seems to be more expensive. Here are ways to cut costs.
Budget to Prioritize Paying Debt Interest rates are high. While there are indications rates will be lower in 2026, how much they’ll be lowered is unknown, and compounding interest is a killer. Can’t pay it off quickly enough? Shop around and refinance for a lower rate.
Lower Your Monthly Expenses
in your 70’s…
in your 30’s…
WAYS TO MANAGE THE
AFFORDABILITY
The best thing we can do is get to know our bodies, at every age - look, listen, feel - and embrace them, maybe even literally hug yourself. Try joining, and even enjoying the journey instead of throwing all your time, dollars, energy, and effort into stopping the unstoppable train of aging.
- Get a new cell phone provider - Cancel unnecessary subscriptions - Prep and plan for fewer grocery store visits - Call provider to get a better deal on internet and cable bills - Save on power bills by minding your usage and insulation -
Use Cash More, Debt Card Less Society has made swiping the card super easy. But too easy can mean less discipline in your purchases. Using cash makes you think, because you always see how much you have left.
Use the 30 Day Delay on Purchases
WHAT WE’RE WATCHING IN 2026 Savannah Banana Baseball Coming to Rickwood Field $5 million in renovations were spent on Rickwood Field to host the 2024 MLB East-West game. This fall the Savannah Bananas plan to play two games at the Park. The Bananas sold-out their last visit to Birmingham in 2023. Can the city work to get more MLB games or other events to the historic ballpark? We’ll see. Birmingham has lost it’s pre-covid momentum and has become stagnant. It’s one thing to illuminate underneath the downtown interstate (keeping in mind the street lights on Red Mtn Expy aren’t all working), but city leadership seems to put little effort into attracting national or regional events, and the city is in desperate need of energy and growth. 2026 HOUSING MARKET A COMEBACK YEAR FOR BUYERS by Christen Bond at Ray & Poynor
What We Learned From 2025
After a flat 2025 defined by high rates and tight inventory, the housing market is finally showing signs of life heading into 2026. Economists at the National Association of REALTORS® expect home sales to climb about 14% next year as job growth holds steady, mortgage applications rise, and rates drift toward the low-6% range. Prices aren’t expected to drop, but a modest 4% increase keeps appreciation manageable.
This year highlighted a split market: higher-priced homes ($750K–$1M) sold the fastest, while first-time buyers hit a record low due to high rents, student loans, and childcare costs. Homes that sat too long needed price cuts, reminding sellers that strategy not wishful pricing—wins.
How Buyers Can Prepare for 2026 - Strengthen credit and pay down debt to open better loan options. - Look into FHA loans, down-payment assistance, and employer housing benefits.
Get our weekly Pic of the Week to your inbox.
- Get pre-approved early so you’re ready when rates shift or new inventory appears. - Track your target price range—mid-tier homes may see the most activity in 2026. - All signs point to a healthier, more active market ahead. If 2025 was a pause, 2026 could be the year many buyers finally get their chance.

WHY FIBER IS THE NEW PROTEIN BY ANN CADE
We’ve spent a decade obsessing over protein while ignoring the nutrient that keeps women in their 40s full, energized, and lean. High-protein everything is having its moment. It’s the 90s low-fat craze repackaged. Be honest… how many cottagecheese recipes are saved on your phone right now?
by: Megan Underwood
Nailing down a solid post-workout recovery routine can keep your body right and ready, and prevent your fitness goals from going off the rails on a lazy train. Here are the important basics:
Protein is essential, especially during perimenopause when muscle loss speeds up and metabolism slows down. But protein without fiber leaves you hungry, inflamed, and working harder at weight loss than necessary. If your energy crashes every afternoon, cravings feel louder, or the scale hasn’t budged in months, it’s probably not a protein problem. It’s a fiber problem.
1.
Recoup…
2.
Refill…
3.
Refuel…
4.
Rest…
5.
Reset…
After a workout, take some time to gradually bring your heart rate down (try a few minutes of walking or cycling), and get bendy. A variety of slow-moving non-moving stretches will help reduce soreness and increase flexibility.
Fiber is the quiet MVP that steadies hormones, calms blood sugar, supports digestion, and keeps you satisfied. It also helps reduce cravings and naturally lowers calorie intake without you feeling restricted. But more than 90% of women are not getting enough. Not because we lack access to fruits, veggies, and whole grains, but because making them easy and delicious when you’re already juggling everything can feel overwhelming. And no one wants to sit down to a meal that tastes like lawn clippings.
Loss of water and electrolytes. Drinking water immediately after your workout and throughout the day is a must for muscle function and nutrient transport. Throw an electrolyterich drink or supplement in there to replace sodium, potassium, and other minerals.
I’ve spent ten years helping high-achieving women lose weight and feel like themselves again with simple upgrades that work on busy days. Three tasty ways to increase your fiber without additional effort:
Food is the fuel your body needs to not only workout, but to turn that hard work into the results you’re working for. A combo of protein and carbs post-workout will aid in repairing muscles, and replenish glycogen stores (energy).
1. FROZEN CHOPPED VEGETABLES ARE YOUR FRIEND. Just as nutritious as fresh and zero prep. Add spinach to smoothies, cauliflower rice to ground beef, or diced peppers and onions to eggs. 2. DON’T SLEEP ON SEEDS. Chia and ground flax disappear into your foods. Add a tablespoon to pancake mix, yogurt parfaits, or meatloaf for an effortless fiber boost.
Most of your muscle growth and repair takes place during sleep. If you don’t already have a proven routine, get one. Every part of your life will benefit, especially your bod.
3. CHOOSE SWAPS YOU WON’T NOTICE. Use whole wheat pasta instead of semolina. Grab a whole grain wrap instead of a flour tortilla. Air-popped popcorn replaces chips for 200 fewer calories and 20% of your daily fiber.
Bottom line: Look for color. More color means more nutrients and natural fullness. Ladies, aim for 25 grams of fiber a day, and gentlemen, go for 38 grams. When you start to build your meals with color and fiber, your metabolism feels the difference.
Reevaluate your weekly gym plan if your body (or mind) isn’t feeling it. Try a different routine, take a day or two off and throw in some active recovery like walking, yoga, or foam rolling.

Stirring the Aesthetic Pot

The Era of Small Lips Paris Fashion Week’s Quietest Flex
Welcome to Stirring the Aesthetic Pot, where beauty trends get questioned - and occasionally roasted. By Nancy Higginbotham COO, Rousso Adams Facial Plastic Surgery I’m not a doctor. But I spend every day with two of the best in the business-and a team of master estheticians who live, breathe, and lose sleep over skin health. What I bring to the table is honest curiosity, lived experience, and a front-row seat to what actually works… let’s stir, shall we?
The pout is out.
The Art of Saying No.
Paris Fashion Week made it official: full lips aren’t canceled, but they’ve been… downsized. The new status lip is soft, symmetrical, and barely there just enough shape to whisper elegance without shouting “syringe.”
Between influencer filters, celebrity facelifts, and political faces dominating every feed, beauty has never been more amplified or more confusing. Maybe that is why patients are craving something quieter.
In our office? We’re seeing the same shift. Patients are asking for balance, not volume. And when done well, smaller lips don’t look like “less.” They look like restraint. Like taste. Like wealth.
And here is something worth remembering: surgeons choose, too. If a patient’s aesthetic goals do not align with a surgeon’s philosophy, an ethical surgeon will say no. The best results happen when both sides share the same vision, when artistry meets restraint and intention meets trust.
And then there was that moment. Maison Margiela sent models down the runway in full couture - wearing dental retractors. It was dystopian, a little horrifying, and somehow… brilliant. A surgical gag in place of a gloss? Maybe the point was: in a world of overfilled mouths, the scariest thing is silence. Or maybe it was just fashion being fashion. Hard to say.
Because at the end of the day, the best work does not need a hashtag or a headline. It just needs to look like you.
But one thing’s clear - subtle is back. And if your lips aren’t yelling, you’re probably doing it right.

Restaurant Review
Johin’na is the new modern Japanese restaurant located downtown near the corner of 20th and 2nd Ave North in an area that’s become the restaurant corner in Birmingham, housing Bayonet, Helen, Paramount, Salud, Zaza and the outdoor Wine Garden by Golden Age. And a block away from Cafe Dupont and Bistro Two Eighteen.
Johin’na
Johin’na predominantly offers modern and Southern takes on a traditional Japanese menu. Executive Chef Ashley Jackson and her sister Amber Diamond (Jr. Sous Chef) are Alabama natives inspired by global flavors from London, Los Angeles and Bali. The menu, best enjoyed shared, ranges mainly from $20s and $30s. Meaning ‘elegant’ in Japanese, Johin’na goes all in on decor. It has two sections. A front section with windows on 2nd Ave and a sushi bar, and back section with a round bar and tables on the side walls.

The Food & Drink
The Atmosphere
The menu items and food presentation attempt to reflect the high end decor. Style is paramount here. Our first starter was the Oyster Kimchi Collard with Smoked Turkey and Gouda $22. While not sounding particularly appetizing, it was ordered out of simple curiosity. We applaud the bold effort, but it was all too much at once and nothing stood out. The oysters, which should have been the star, were negligible in the flavor profile. Next was the Yellowtail Jalapeno Sashimi $22 which was presented cloche to add a hint of smoke, but seemed to serve more the presentation than the product. It’s jalapeños had their seeds removed so there was no heat and little flavor added. It was a generous cut of tuna, but the dish was dependent on the ponzu sauce for flavor. Next, we shared the Gochujang Chicken $18, skewered chicken on a stick, marinated wth the Korean spice gochujang, ginger and lemon. It seemed to have marinated for too long, as it was very mealy, hardly holding onto the skewer. For sushi we went the Kyoto Heat Roll $25. It was yellowtail, cucumber, salmon, eel sauce and sriracha. It was good, but nothing to remember. We started with the House Sake $11 a glass which was also good, but decided not to order another and called it a night. ABOUT
Certainly a striking space, there’s no shortage of neon and curated details that make an impactful first impression. Not visible by the front window, is the back room with an illuminated cherry blossom tree stationed in the middle of the bar. As their website says, the space sets a tone for date night. And it’s hard not to be impressed. This build-out was not done on the cheap. The Parking
Valet is offered. Free parking can sometimes be found on the street nearby. You can also park in a paid lot a block away, but make sure you pay in their app. You will get towed if not. The Bottom Line
We’re curious to see how Birmingham can support yet another high-end, high-priced restaurant. The category seems crowded, and Johin’na has joined the race. For better or worse, it’s a place where simplicity is not of interst. While certainly it’s visually stimulating, it’s too much style and not enough substance. 17 T O W N

1 The Top-Tier Lift & Resurfacing Combination Everyone’s Asking About When it comes to lasers, Dr. Holly Gunn has seen it all. She’s tested nearly every “next big thing” in aesthetics, and she’s refreshingly honest about what’s actually worth the investment. If a device doesn’t deliver meaningful results or justify the downtime, it simply doesn’t make her list. So when Dr. Gunn calls something a game-changer, she means it. That’s exactly how she describes the Tetra CO2 laser, a resurfacing technology that performs on an entirely different level. And when she pairs it with Ellacor, the non-surgical device that removes tiny micro-cores of skin without heat, the outcome becomes even more dramatic. Together, they create one of her most-requested combinations for patients wanting a true transformation in skin texture and tightness. This combination is the secret behind tighter, smoother, “How is your skin that good?” results.
Discover What This Transformation Could Look Like for You To learn more or schedule a consultation, contact Gunn Dermatology at (205) 415-7536.
1. Tetra CO2 Ablative Resurfacing Dr. Gunn is quick to point out that not all CO2 lasers are created equal. The Tetra stands apart for its ability to deliver significantly more tightening with noticeably less downtime than traditional options — making it one of the most advanced resurfacing technologies available today. Patients experience tightening, smoothing, and rejuvenation that truly feels worth it. And compared with treatments like Halo, Moxi, or older versions of Fraxel, Tetra offers a higher level of comfort both during the procedure and throughout recovery.
2. Ellacor Ellacor is in a category of its own: the only device that removes 5–8% of the skin without heat, creating a natural tightening effect ideal for areas where skin laxity is most frustrating. At Gunn Dermatology, Dr. Gunn and her team have become national leaders in exploring the full potential of this device. While Ellacor is popular for minimally invasive lip lifts and midfacelifts, they also use it to treat: • • • •
Upper arms with crepey or hanging skin Postpartum abdominal laxity Inner thighs “Banana rolls” beneath the glutes
In short, anywhere a patient can pinch and think, “I wish this wasn’t here,” Ellacor may be able to help. Ellacor works by removing micro-cores of skin to noticeably improve sagging and wrinkles. Ablative CO2 resurfacing is perfect for those wanting dramatic rejuvenation—refining texture, softening fine lines, fading brown spots, and reducing crepiness. Used together, these two treatments create the ultimate antiaging duo, helping your skin look 5–10 years younger with beautifully refreshed, smoother, firmer results.

Mind & Body
Your Winter Wellness Playbook by: Lauren Vogel
We all feel it when the seasons shift. Not only does the temperature change but our bodies do too. When the air gets cooler and the days get shorter, we crave something different than the fast pace of summer — we crave a slower rhythm, more nourishing foods, and deeper rest. ABOUT
26 T O W N
Winter isn’t a season to power through; it’s a season to downshift. Fighting this natural flow of life is like swimming upstream; it’s exhausting and can lead to depression and burnout. But when we honor the season for the reflective and nurturing time it’s meant to be, we sync up with our natural rhythms and feel lighter, steadier, and more at ease. This playbook is your holistic, practical blueprint for overall winter wellness, rooted in what we truly need this time of year — a break that restores, rather than depletes.
Mind & Body
The Winter Mind
One of the first places I feel the seasonal shift is in my mind. The darker mornings, the dip in motivation, the pull toward my comfy couch, and all things warm and cozy. None of it means I’m “off,” “lazy,” or “unproductive.” It means I’m responding to the season. Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.) is very real, and it’s normal to notice shifts like feeling more fatigued, craving carbs and sweets, withdrawing socially, or experiencing lulls in mood and energy. What You Can Do > Let In the Light: Less sunlight affects mood, sleep, and focus. Sit in front of a light-therapy lamp for 15 minutes while you drink your coffee or tea in the morning. Step outside for a breath of crisp air, even just for a moment. > Take Your Vitamins: Studies show that vitamin D — specifically Vitamin D3 (the hormone of sunlight) — can significantly enhance mood during the winter months. > Reflect & Listen: Once a week in my journal, I check in with myself: What’s draining me? What’s nurturing me? What am I craving more of?
Permission To Slow Down
Winter is your reminder that slowing down isn’t a flaw, but a natural, instinctive wisdom built into your biology. When you stop fighting the season and instead lean into its slower vibes, you give your body and mind the chance to reset, restore, and rebuild the energy that gets stretched thin the rest of the year. Honoring that pull toward rest is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself. There’s also a quiet beauty in syncing with the season. When you allow yourself to move a little slower, to choose warmth and nourishment over hustle and intensity, you create space for clarity and renewal.
Skin in the Winter
Your skin reflects the change of season almost instantly. The dryness, the tightness, the dullness — all of it is your skin crying out for help. What You Can Do > Hydrate: Switch to a gentle, creamy cleanser that keeps your skin barrier intact. Layer hydration with toner or mist, hyaluronic acid, then a richer moisturizer to seal everything in. Ceramides, squalane, and marula oil are winter superstars. > Repair Overnight: Nighttime is where the magic happens. This is your skin’s repair window, so embrace richer night creams or weekly overnight hydrating masks. > Protect Daily: Even on gray days sunscreen remains essential.
Hair + Scalp
Winter hair has its own personality, be it dry, frizzy, or flat. But winter hair can be gorgeous if you take care of it. What You Can Do > Nourish Weekly: A simple coconut oil mask can replenish moisture quickly and naturally, bringing back softness, shine, and flexibility to hair that winter air often leaves dry or brittle. > Don’t Forget Your Scalp: Keep your scalp hydrated and stimulated with a gentle weekly massage using a lightweight oil. This supports healthier hair growth when indoor heating tends to strip moisture from the skin. > Reduce Breakage: Silk pillowcases and silk-lined beanies can dramatically reduce breakage and frizz.
Hands + Nails
Strength, Energy & Immunity
Winter is especially tough on our hands. Between the cold air outside and the dry heat inside, our skin loses moisture faster than we can replace it. Nails become brittle and cuticles split.
What You Can Do Move With Intention: Choose workouts that build heat and support your energy instead of draining it. Think short, strong, and consistent.
What You Can Do > Moisturize Often: Keep a deeply hydrating hand cream within reach and reapply throughout the day. This prevents cracking before it starts. > Strengthen Nails: Use nightly cuticle oil to keep the nail bed flexible and hydrated. If your nails tend to peel or break in winter, adding collagen peptides or biotin (powder or gummies) can support stronger, healthier growth. > Protect When Possible: Wear gloves outside and when washing dishes. And switch to gentle, non-stripping soaps. This is simple but locks in the moisture your hands desperately need.
Your body shifts just as much as your mind in winter. Muscles tighten. Energy stagnates. Workouts that felt effortless in summer suddenly feel heavy. There’s nothing wrong with you! It’s just winter. The key isn’t pushing harder; it’s being more mindful.
Shorter workouts can be more effective than longer ones: • Ten minutes of yoga • A brisk walk • A couple of strength circuits
Nervous System Care
Here are a few winter-friendly yoga movements that I love: • Sun Salutation A to warm the spine and energize • Plank Pose to build heat and lift sluggishness • Supported Bridge to support deeper breathing • Legs-Up-the-Wall for calm and nervous system reset
More than anything, winter asks us to recharge our batteries. Small rituals become powerful anchors. Your nervous system thrives on warmth, routine, and simple rituals. Start your mornings with something warm. Trade just ten minutes of scrolling at night for a book, a stretch, or breathwork.
Try Supportive Supplements: • Vitamin D: Supports mood, immunity, and energy when sunlight is limited. • Probiotics: Help keep the gut (the immune system) strong. • Omega-3s: Reduce inflammation and support skin, brain, and joint health. • Adaptogens: Herbs like ashwagandha can help the body manage stress and maintain steady energy. • Mushrooms: Supplements like Reishi, Turkey Tail, and Maitake can support the immune system. What You Can Do > Heat Therapy: Warm baths, steam rooms, or saunas help release tension and support deep relaxation. > Add Moisture to the Air: A humidifier can ease breathing, support sleep, and prevent dry skin and sinuses. > Anchor Your Evenings: Set aside 10 to 20 minutes of quiet (no screens!) to help you downshift your mind before bed. > Prioritize Sleep: Prioritizing sleep isn’t indulgent; it’s biological. Good sleep strengthens immunity, stabilizes mood, supports metabolism, and helps the nervous system reset.

About Town just turned 20 years old. The first event on the cover was the Zoo Gala raising funds for our zoo. The first event we ever covered was Artwalk downtown. We’ve covered over 1,600 charity fundraisers, and about 80 per year. Each year we ask our charity contacts if they have any individuals who they’d like to acknowledge for their service. CHARITY Grace House Ministries
MOTIVATION I felt a very strong tie to Grace House’s mission of providing a stable, Christian home for young girls where they can grow into women of strength, faith, and purpose. The success stories of young women who lived at Grace House and have gone on to lead successful, fulfilling lives is truly inspiring. POSITIVE TAKEAWAYS I’ve had the pleasure of utilizing my experience as a Human Resources professional to assist Grace House in recruiting for two key positions this year. Giving back to Grace House by using my professional skills is very rewarding, but it’s most exciting to see the growth and development of this incredible ministry front and center!

MOTIVATION The mission statement and the community work done by The Service Guild’s 65-year legacy of meaningful service drew me in immediately. It’s rare to join a group where your effort so directly impacts children and families.
POSITIVE TAKEAWAYS This year, The Bell Center received direct funding from the state’s Education Trust Fund budget for the first time. By: Scott Atkinson, Wine Manager at PIGGLY WIGGLY IN CRESTLINE
A Real Trailblazer This issue of About Town focuses on Trailblazers. While I am by no means a trailblazer, I’ve been extraordinarily fortunate to stand on the shoulders of some giants. International Wines, which holds the oldest wholesale license in Alabama, gave me my first job in the wine business. Western Supermarkets, which was the first grocery store to sell wine in Alabama was my first job in wine retail. We all know that Piggly Wiggly, where I currently work, was a pioneer in the self-service aspect of grocery. Lastly, and most significant to this piece, I’ve had the profound honor to work with
Jerome Crawford for the past 30 years. Jerome has been a trailblazer in the Birmingham, and Alabama, wine scene for the past <redacted, but more than 30> years. Working with Jerome has been one of the absolute blessings of my professional life. I shudder to think where the wine scene in Birmingham would be without him, his knowledge, his wisdom, his expertise, and his experience. Please read further for some trailblazers which have made a big impression on Jerome. I’ll promise you this – if Jerome is impressed, that is a significant compliment.
The McBride Sisters and Jerome Crawford
Two Sisters, Two Hemispheres, One Shared Passion With no winemaking legacy to stand on, Robin McBride & Andrea McBride-John set out guided by one set of principles – to build their own wine traditions and place women, culture, cuisine, taste, and lifestyle at the center of a wine experience. Robin McBride and Andrea McBride-John were raised across the globe from one another in two of the world’s most iconic wine-growing, agricultural, and farming regions – Monterey, California, and Aotearoa, New Zealand. Each thought they were only children until fate united them in 1999. Their discovery of one another, along with a shared love of wine, food, and culture, sparked a creative and entrepreneurial force. In August of 2025, I met with Robin McBride in Oakland, CA, to discuss their new releases and their vision for growth moving forward. The wines we are featuring in this edition of About Town couldn’t have flourished without these two Amazing Sisters ultimately changing the face of the wine industry. > MCBRIDE SISTERS COLLECTION RED BLEND Central Coast The fruit is sourced from the cool-climate vineyards of California’s Central Coast, where wine grapes have one of the longest growing seasons in the state. That translates to rich complexity and great texture. Pair with Carne Asada, tacos, cheeseburgers, ribs, or pizza. ABOUT
> MCBRIDE SISTERS COLLECTION SAUVIGNON BLANC, Marlborough, New Zealand Sunny Marlborough, New Zealand, rules the world when it comes to fresh, juicy Sauvignon Blanc. Your sniff brings tropical fruits, white flowers, and zesty citrus, then things get luscious with a mouthful of passion fruit, mango, fuji apple, and key lime. Bold acidity and a subtle mineral flourish keep you coming back for more. Pair with fresh oysters, sushi, salads with vinaigrette, or stir-fry. > MCBRIDE SISTERS COLLECTION SPARKLING BRUT ROSE Hawkes Bay, NV Hawke’s Bay is one of the most prestigious fine wine regions in Aotearoa, New Zealand. This gorgeous bubbly glows with gentle aromas of rose petals, crushed red berries, and strawberries with cream. In the mouth, the red fruit keeps coming with loads of fresh raspberry, cranberry, strawberry, and a bit of juicy peach to round this out. Pair with fried chicken, popcorn, fish and chips, or chips and queso. > MCBRIDE SISTERS COLLECTION RESERVE CHARDONNAY “THE GREAT ESCAPE” Santa Lucia Highlands, California Escape the yawn of over-oaked California Chardonnay with “The Great Escape. In Robin’s own words, “When I was a baby, my mom drove our bright red Volkswagen bug up the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to a small town called Monterey. This is where I fell in love with vineyards and winemaking.” The wine world is a better place thanks to the McBride sisters finding each other and embarking on a fantastic career in wine, together. - Jerome Crawford, Crestline Pig
