The Baskin Beat

Welcome to my quarterly newsletter! I am excited to share with you all the things my office has been able to accomplish during my first year in office.

First, I would like to express my gratitude to every resident of the City of Miami Gardens. Your continued support and dedication to making our city the best it can be, is the foundation of what keeps our great city running smoothly and effectively.

Looking forward my office has many new initiatives planned such as the “Minor Repair Program” where

residents can receive assistance to make minor repairs such as tree removal, roof repair, and tree removal to their homes

Together, we can continue to make the City of Miami Gardens a beautiful place to live and grow.

Election

Councilwoman Katrina Baskin proudly serves Residential District 1 in the City of Miami Gardens. A committed public servant, she brings a peoplefirst approach to leadership, rooted in transparency, collaboration, and community engagement. Councilwoman Baskin believes that meaningful change happens when all voices residents, leaders, and city staff are involved. Her work focuses on creating inclusive programs and responsive policies that uplift and reflect the needs of her district With a strong focus on unity and shared responsibility, she is dedicated to building a thriving, connected city for current and future generations

First Responders Feast

Councilwoman Baskin hosted the First Responder’s Feast to honor the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep the City of Miami Gardens safe This heartfelt event brought together firefighters, paramedics, and police officers for an afternoon of appreciation, unity, and gratitude. It served as a powerful reminder that behind every siren and uniform is a dedicated individual who shows up, day in and day out, for our community.

Councilwoman Baskin emphasized the importance of building strong relationships between first responders and residents, noting that mutual respect and recognition are key to a safer, more connected Miami Gardens. The feast was not just a thank you, it was a celebration of service, sacrifice, and the strength of those who protect us

nshe inaugural Broadway in the Gardens, a powerful celebration of Black history and the arts through dance, music, and spoken word With standout performances from local and national talent, the event highlighted the importance of preserving the arts in our community As part of the Save The Arts Initiative, this evening was a bold step toward continued cultural investment in Miami Gardens and it’s just the beginning

Wall PSA

Councilwoman Baskin recently completed a public service announcement regarding the damaged wall along NW 27th Avenue While the City of Miami Gardens is ready to move forward with repairs, each section of the wall is privately owned, meaning homeowner consent is required before any work can begin Councilwoman Baskin is actively working to inform and engage residents to ensure the necessary signatures are collected so that restoration can take place as quickly as possible

Teacher Recognition Program Educators Impact Awards Gala

Councilwoman Baskin proudly honored outstanding educators at the Educator Impact Awards Gala, recognizing teachers who go above and beyond for their students. The evening celebrated dedication, innovation, and the vital role educators play in shaping the future of Miami Gardens. It was a night of excellence, gratitude, and community pride as we uplifted those who inspire our youth every day.

The gala served as a reminder that educators are not just instructors, they are mentors, motivators, and pillars of support.

Councilwoman Baskin remains committed to creating spaces that celebrate their efforts and highlight their impact. By honoring these changemakers, we reinforce the value of education and the people who make it possible, one student at a time.
