Welcome to Alberta Camp Meeting! I’m absolutely thrilled that you have joined us for this celebration of God’s goodness and grace! We’ve been praying for you! We’ve been praying that here at Camp Meeting you will encounter the living Christ in such a way that you’ll be filled with His presence and His power.
Whether you’ve come for the fantastic fellowship, the magnificent music, or the stimulating sermons, you will be richly blessed! Our Alberta Conference Vision is to live and love like Jesus. I encourage you to live out this vision right here at Camp Meeting.
Our theme this year is “Rise Up!” This is a call to action. It is a call to mission. It is a call to love. May we together experience a mighty movement of God’s Holy Spirit at this Camp Meeting. Now is the time for God’s church to “Rise Up!”

Prayer Spots walk:
Take time to dwell in God’s presence, be still, and know that He is God. Listen to Him. There are 10 spots to stop and contemplate the word of the Lord. Talk with Him. See page 70 for the Prayer Walk Map.
Seeking a space to be still and know God?
The Heritage Church — that is, the little white church at Foothills Camp — will be available for quiet times with God at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day.
Intercessory Prayer:
Be the person who opens space for conversations with God. When you chat with someone, ask, “Is it okay with you if I pray for you?” If they say yes, then do it! If they say no, tell them, “That is fine. Have a great day.”
Nightly Prayer Time:
In the chapel following the evening meeting in the auditorium, around 8:45 p.m., you are welcome to come together to pray and close out the day. We will have a time of being in the presence of God, sharing God Sightings, and praying for the requests that have come in that day.
Anointing Service:
The final Friday night, July 17, we will have an anointing service in the chapel following the meeting in the auditorium. You are most welcome to seek the Lord in prayer for healing: spiritually, physically, relationally, emotionally, or for whatever you wish to invite God’s intervention.
Prayer Request Boxes: Will be located around the campus, in various washrooms and the Lodge. Please feel free to put your requests into the boxes provided. The requests will be collected every day.

Pavel Goia was born in Drobeta Turnu-Severin, Romania. For about six years Pavel pastored in Romania and also helped with the youth, music for the Conference, prison ministry, and taught some classes in one of the local missionary schools.
After moving to the United States, Pavel pursued a bachelor’s in Theology at SAU, a master of divinity at AU, a master’s in Communication in Europe, and then a Doctor of Ministry at AU with emphasis in Leadership.

He pastored the Janesville district in the Wisconsin Conference for almost nine years, and then pastored the Lexington (KY) Seventhday Adventist Church for seven years. He was a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee for the NAD of Seventh-day Adventist Church for a long period. He was a long-time member of the NAD Ministerial Advisory Committee, editor for Ministry magazine for the GC, and associate director for ministerial at the GC for nine years.
Pavel currently serves as Field Representative and Evangelism Trainer for AWR at the GC. Together with Kelly Mowrer they authored the book, In The Spirit and Power, a book that emphasizes the vital need for prayer, revival, and full commitment to God’s service.

Pastor Ron Nelson is an inspirational speaker, gospel artist, singer-songwriter, and experienced pastoral leader whose ministry blends music, testimony, and biblical preaching. His music flows from a deep personal walk with Jesus and has been featured in ministry settings including Hope Channel’s My Story, My Song. Dr. Douglas Tilstra has more than 45 years of experience as a pastor, conference ministerial director, university professor, university vice president, mentor, and certified leadership coach.
He has served pastorally throughout the United States and Canada as well as educationally at Southern Adventist University and Walla Walla University. He is a published author and frequent workshop speaker on a variety of topics including leadership, listening and communication, the life of Jesus, outdoor education, and domestic violence prevention/intervention.
For more than 15 years, Tilstra has been involved with education for pastors and local church leaders to recognize and respond to cases of domestic violence in their congregations. More recently, he has volunteered with EndItNow, the North American Division’s initiative to confront domestic violence with education, prevention, and training for first responders.

Dr. Elizabeth Viera Talbot, Ph.D., is the Speaker/Director for the Jesus 101 Biblical Institute (Jesus101.tv), a media ministry of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists, designed to offer in-depth Christ-centred biblical studies resources. Elizabeth is regularly featured on TV channels, radio stations, and social media venues around the world. Elizabeth has authored several books, including the 2020 NAD daily devotional, “Jesus Wins!” The Jesus 101 website (Jesus101.tv) and smart phone application (Jesus 101) offer many bible study resources, including daily devotionals, biblical studies, videos, podcasts, audio books, and more.
Elizabeth was born in Argentina to the home of Adventist missionaries. Since early childhood, her parents instilled in her the love of Jesus and she always envisioned preaching and teaching as she gathered her dolls as an audience. After completing her bachelor’s in music, Elizabeth went on to work in the business world for many years. She earned a master’s degree in Organizational Behavior. In 2001, she was invited to become a full-time pastor, which she gladly accepted as a call from God.
She earned a master’s degree in Biblical studies and subsequent Ph.D. Eventually she became a senior pastor for several years and an adjunct Biblical Studies professor. She has enjoyed evangelism in many forms and innovative venues, and now leads the Jesus 101 media ministry. Elizabeth’s main identity is her passion about the good news of Jesus Christ: “It’s like fire in my bones,” she says, and she means it!

Merlin D. Burt, Ph.D. is director of the Ellen G. White Estate, Inc., and Field Secretary for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. He additionally serves as Research Professor of Church History at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University.
He was founding director of the administratively integrated Center for Adventist Research and White Estate Branch office at Andrews University, where he served from 2003 to 2020. From 1993 to 2003, he was director of the Loma Linda University White Estate Branch Office and chair of Archives and Special Collections. Dr. Burt has been with the Ellen G. White Estate since 1993.
He has published books, numerous articles, and chapters, and has served variously as an organizer and speaker at various conferences and symposiums. Before his administrative and academic appointments, he served in the United States as a pastor in Ohio and California.

Pastor Gabriel Perea and Jessica McKinney
Perea have been married for 22 years and have shared those same 22 years together in pastoral ministry. Born and raised in Texas, Gabriel currently serves as an Associate Professor of Theology at Southwestern Adventist University, where he has taught since 2023, following six years of mission work in Scotland with his family. Jessica served as an at-home mother for the first 17 years of their family life and has recently returned to the classroom as a high school Literature and American Sign Language teacher. Gabriel and Jessica are passionate about helping couples build Christ-centred marriages that are honest, resilient, grace-filled, and missionfocused, believing that strong homes are essential to strong churches and that Jesus is not only coming soon, but that this generation of young people and families can help prepare the world for His return.

Seminar Arise & Reflect: Becoming People Who Live and Love Like Jesus
What does it actually look like to live like Jesus—not just in theory, but in the real, everyday moments of life?
This seminar is built around the call of Isaiah 60:1. It’s an invitation to step fully into who God has created you to be and to reflect His character wherever you are. Together, we’ll wrestle with questions like: Who am I in Christ? How is my life actually changing? And what does it look like to love like Jesus in my relationships, work, and daily choices? We will learn to understand our identity in Christ, to developing the habits that shape us, and face the barriers that hold us back. We’ll also talk honestly about the courage it takes to live differently in a world that often pulls us in the opposite direction. The call to “arise and shine” is outward-facing. As we are transformed, we are invited to become a light in our homes, workplaces, and communities—reflecting the love, grace, and truth of Jesus in practical ways.

Debbie Schwarz was born and raised in the Kelowna area of BC and after graduating from Okanagan Academy, went to Walla Walla College, WA where she graduated with a Nutrition degree. During the next 20 years, Debbie was Director of Food Service at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Saskatoon, SK and then at Sherwood Care Nursing Home in Sherwood Park, AB. Adventure called and found her in Hong Kong for the next six years, where she worked for Adventist World Radio and Hong Kong Adventist College teaching English. Continuing the adventure, she then found herself in Uganda for four years, where she served with the Vice Chancellor of Administration and taught English as a Second Language. Being back in Canada since 2011, Debbie continues to work at the AB Conference Office as Administrative Assistant to both the President and Executive Secretary.

Because Camp Meeting Shaped Our Family...
“I’ve been to Camp Meeting every year of my life.”
That’s how Judy Demeter begins her story.
Year after year, Judy came to Camp Meeting with her parents. One of her fondest memories is her 88-yearold father standing at their longtime campsite, guiding the family into their spot, always welcoming them. Even after Judy was married, he was there. And when he was no longer able to attend, the absence was deeply felt.
Still, Camp Meeting kept calling her family back.
Over the years, Judy and her husband brought their children and foster children, offering them a place of belonging, faith, and consistency. For those children, Camp Meeting became the highlight of every summer.

Even during a year of hardship, after losing their motorhome to a fire, Judy’s family still came, driving back and forth almost every day. Camp Meeting was simply too important to miss. Camp Meeting 2026
Greetings from the staff at your local ABC Christian store in Lacombe. Camp meeting season is fast approaching, and we are excited for a week of celebration with you. A huge thank you to our customers for your continuing support and understanding.
Case lot food sales and four can pricing in effect all week
Each year, it seems, presents its own challenges for us, particularly around supply for some of our traditional foods. Though the transition in the manufacturing of Loma Linda Foods is nearly complete, as of the beginning of May 2026, they are doing their best to have any remaining production issues resolved in time for Camp meeting. Our biggest concern is currently with Foodservice Super Links: they are still not available.
On a more positive note, for those of you who enjoy the traditional Auditorium Sale, it will be back again this year. The time of the sale is 10:00 am – 12 noon in the auditorium, on the first Sunday of camp meeting, July 12.
We look forward to serving you and pray that you will be richly blessed and empowered as we RISE UP to proclaim the good news of the gospel!

José Daniel Sánchez Pastor, Ontario Conference
Youth Speaker (13-18 yrs)
José Daniel Sánchez is a son, a brother to one sister, a husband, and a dad to his daughter Camila, with a baby boy arriving any day now, so life at home is about to get even more exciting. He graduated from Burman University in 2016 and later completed his Master of Divinity at Andrews University, focusing on youth and young adult ministry. Today, he serves as the lead pastor of New Life Seventhday Adventist Church in Oshawa, Ontario.
At heart, José Daniel is passionate about people. Whether he’s preaching, creating content, or just having a conversation, he seeks to help others discover a genuine, everyday walk with God that actually makes sense in real life. When he’s not doing that, you’ll probably find him working out, playing or talking about sports, trying food from different cultures, or planning his next trip, ideally somewhere tropical, close to the ocean.
Gabriel Perea Associate Theology Professor, Southwestern Adventist University

Pastor Gabriel Perea was born and raised in Texas, and has been married to and pastored with Jessica McKinney Perea for 22 years. They have four smart, beautiful, and godly children. The Perea family just recently returned from 6 years of mission work in Scotland. Gabriel is currently an Associate Theology Professor at Southwestern Adventist University where he has been since 2023. They believe Jesus is not only coming soon, but that this generation of young people will finish the preparation for Jesus’ return.

Please note: In the event of any of the following emergency situations, the camp Fire Marshal and security will be on hand to assist you in following these procedures.
Tornado
In case of tornado warning, evacuate the campground in an orderly fashion. Make sure you have all your family members accounted for. DO NOT hook up your trailer or pack. Get in your vehicle and leave in the designated direction away from the oncoming tornado.
If a tornado is imminent (no time to evacuate) do the following:
1. Lodge – go down to the basement of the lodge.
2. Main Auditorium – lie down inside the concrete wall.
3. Lie down in ditches and low spots.
4. Stay out of cars and camping units.
5. Stay away from power lines.
Fire
In case of fire in a building, walk quietly but quickly to the nearest exit and proceed to a safe distance from the building to a muster point .
1. DO NOT panic. DO NOT rush, push, or overtake.
2. Follow instructions of the Fire Marshal and security.
3. Keep noise to a minimum so that all instructions may be easily heard.
4. DO NOT return to the building until all clear is given by the Fire Marshal.
5. Call 911.
Severe lightning storm
1. Stay away from water, metal objects, all electrical devices, telephones, vehicles, and other substances that will conduct electricity.
2. All campers are to take shelter in a safe place.
3. Avoid standing under high objects.
4. Alert staff to possible fire or other emergencies.
5. Unplug all electronics.
Severe storms
1. Proceed to shelters (main building, lodge, bathrooms).
2. Cabin residents, stay in your cabin.
3. If sufficient notice, retract all awnings, tie downs, and put any loose objects inside your RVs.

The following guidelines are in place for the comfort and safety of all users of Foothills Camp and Retreat Centre. Your cooperation in observing them is very much appreciated.
1. Quiet time is 10:00 p.m.
2. Children under 18 years of age are not permitted to stay overnight at the campground unless under adult supervision of an immediate family member.
3. See Dog Policy.
4. Skateboards, water guns, firearms, etc. are not permitted on the campground.
5. Campers in the 15 amp sites are prohibited from using air conditioners or other major electrical appliances due to inadequate electrical power.
6. The maximum occupancy on any camping site is one camping unit plus one same-family tent.
7. A maximum of two vehicles are permitted at one RV site, campsite, or cabin.
8. Camping is ONLY permitted in assigned areas.
9. No open fires are permitted on the campground, either indoors or outdoors. This includes candles, citronella pails, torches, or open flame of any kind.
10. A $10 per key CASH deposit will be required at registration for all cabins, lodge rooms, and division buildings. The deposit will be refunded when you return the key(s) upon departure.
11. The cafeteria will provide all meals, including Sabbaths, with the exception of the Sunday lunch, which is the International Food Fair. Meal tickets are only available at the Camp Administration Office. No meal tickets will be sold during Sabbath hours. Unused meal tickets will NOT be refunded.
12. 2027 REGISTRATION: If you wish to register for a 2027 camping site, you must fill out a registration form at the camp office BEFORE FRIDAY, July 17, 2026. Bring your current site number (if applicable) and the requested site number.
13. Please do not wash your vehicle or RV while on the campgrounds. Water supplies are limited.
14. Parents, please ensure that your children have adequate skin protection for all outdoor activities. Wearing a T-shirt is recommended for water sports to guard against a serious sunburn.
15. Solicitation, merchandise sales, and distribution of literature by unauthorized persons is not permitted on the campgrounds. If you wish to promote personal and private CDs, etc., you must obtain pre-approval from the manager of the Adventist Book Centre.
16. Lifestyle in the Seventh-day Adventist Church promotes the non-use of tobacco, alcohol, or illicit drugs. Use of these in any form is not permitted.
17. Parking in driveways is not permitted. Avoid double-parking and blocking others. Infractions may necessitate your car being towed away.
18. Small appliances such as kettles, rice cookers and microwaves are not permitted to be used in the lodge rooms.
19. Scent Free – Please be mindful of those who struggle with allergy issues. Avoid wearing strong - scented perfumes and lotions.
20. Prevent fires and notify security personnel immediately of any fire or perceived fire risks.
21. River Safety – Unsupervised minors should not access the river. The river flows fast and dangerous during rainy periods. Please take the precaution for staying safe.
22. No appliance can be used at the camp that has an open electric element due to fire regulations. Ex. toasters, toaster ovens etc.
23. Each cabin only has 1 x 15 amp plug and you can only use one electric appliance at a time. Using more will overload the circuit and cause a fire hazard. The best way to prepare food is with a propane camp stove OUTDOORS, they are not to be used inside a cabin at any time.
24. Speed Limits – Please be respectful of the neighbours who live on the dirt roads approaching the camp. Speed limit is 60 kms. Reduce speed to 25 kms when passing individuals walking on the dirt roads approaching the camp. Camp ground speed is 10 kms/hour.
25. Foothills Camp wells are tested on a regular basis and are considered safe by AHS. However, it is recommended that individuals in RV sites provide their own drinking water or boil the water provided at the RV site tap.
26. No bikes are permitted in the central camp meeting area. Please refer to posted signs around the camp grounds.
27. Parking on the grass in the main centre area (behind the resource tent), is reserved for handicap parking only.
28. No parking is permitted along the main dirt road between the ABC building and the auditorium. This area must be kept clear for emergency vehicles.
29. Rude or obnoxious behaviour will not be tolerated.
30. CHECK-OUT TIME IS SUNDAY, JULY 19 AT 11 A.M.
Purpose
The purpose of a Dog Policy for the Alberta Conference annual Camp Meeting is to ensure a safe environment for campers and dogs and minimize impact on wildlife.
Preamble
Dogs can be wonderful companions and a source of great joy. However, at Foothills Camp and Retreat Centre, where campers live together in close proximity, there are circumstances that dogs may pose risks to other campers or animals. Risks may include, but are not limited to, severe allergic reactions; infectious diseases or parasites; unpredictable or aggressive behaviour; and fearful reactions. At Foothills Camp pets are limited to dogs.
Policy Guidelines
1. Dog-free areas are the lodge, cabins, central camp meeting area, indoor program space, public washrooms, the dining room and play areas (playgrounds, volleyball/basketball courts, pool area). Accommodations can be made for Service Dogs.
2. All dogs must be registered at the Camp Security office.
3. Dogs are to be well behaved and kept under control at all times:
a. Includes but is not limited to crates, kennels, small fenced enclosures,* tie outs,* and leashes.
b. Leashes are not to be longer than 6 feet while walking dogs on the campground.
c. Ensure tie outs do not pose a fall risk hazard.
d. Quiet times are 10:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
4. Children must be at least 10 years old and with sufficient strength to restrain their dog on their own.
5. Children 10 years old are to be supervised at all times with any dog on the campground.
6. Impact on the campground’s wildlife is to be minimized.
7. Dog feces is to be cleaned up and disposed of in garbage bins by dog’s owner or the dog walker.
8. Dogs must be free from any infectious disease.
9. Dogs must have up-to-date immunizations and it is strongly recommended that dogs be on a flea treatment regimen.
10. Dogs that exhibit the following behaviours to other animals, children, or adults will require stronger boundaries/control measures:
a. Ferocious barking
b. Lunging
c. Growling, snarling, or snapping
d. Outside continuous barking for more than 15 seconds without correction
11. Dog behaviour that is concerning to any camper is to be handled according to the following process:
a. Strongly encouraged to communicate directly with the dog’s owner.
b. If the situation is unresolved, the concerned camper is to contact the Security Coordinator and/or the Camp Superintendent, or come to the Camp Office to call the dog’s owner to attempt to mediate an agreeable solution.
12. If aggressive behaviour escalates or results in harm to another animal or person:
a. Restrain the dog/s
b. Initiate first aid and contact the First Aid Station
c. Report the incident immediately to the Security Coordinator and/or the Camp Superintendent
13. Camp operations, as necessary, will require the dog owner to make alternate boarding arrangements off the campground if a dog’s behaviour is deemed to be a safety risk or if Dog Policies are not adhered to.

BOTTLE CAN COLLECTION
Designated Pathfinder Clubs will be collecting bottles and cans during camp meeting to fundraise for their club needs and activities.
Please place your bags of bottles by a bottle container provided throughout the camp or keep them at your campsite, a helpful Pathfinder will collect them.
