#1 It’s all in the layout
When designing your dream bathroom, it’s not just about the tiles you choose—it’s also about how you lay them out. Larger format tiles, like our La Faenza Vis range, work best in a clean, horizontal grid or stack bond pattern. This layout creates a sleek, modern look, makes smaller spaces feel larger, and reduces grout lines and tile cuts—saving both time and money. Check out our handy tile pattern layout suggestions for added inspiration.
#2 Small Space, Big Effect
Don’t be afraid to use dark colours in smaller spaces. Of course lighter colours make a room feel bigger and brighter, but that doesn’t mean you should shy away from using darker colours in smaller spaces. A dark tile can add a sense of depth to a room as the parameters of the tile become less clear and, much like a lighter tile, can make a space feel bigger.
Top Tip: Tile size shouldn’t be determined by bathroom size. A small bathroom can actually benefit from a large tile, with fewer grout lines the walls and floor appear less cluttered and the room visually expanded.
Suggested Tile Pattern Layouts
#3 The best in test
Wetrooms are beautiful, luxurious and practical.
However due to the nature of this type of environment it is always wise to select a tile for your wet room with the appropriate slip resistance for your layout.
That is why we have identified the “R” and “PTV” ratings for each range.
The “R” rating system indicates that the tile has a slip resistant finish. The higher the rating, the greater the level of slip resistance.
The “PTV” (Pendulum Test Value) rating is designed to indicate the level of slip resistance a tile range provides when they are wet or dry. The higher the rating, the greater the slip resistance.
Please note, R ratings and PTV ratings are only assigned to tiles that are designed to provide a level of grip and slip resistance.

The Grout Effect
Complementary or contrasting, the grout colour you select will affect the final look of your tiles.
For an interior design that stands the test of time, selecting complementing grout colours when choosing stone effect tiles in the bathroom is a great choice. The beautiful Vis Almond tiles, work very well with the Rocatex beige grout, making the grout lines virtually disappear.
Top Tip: A darker grout colour can hide stains and dirt.
Slip Resistance Technology
#5 Colour is the new grey
Gone are the days of sterile white tiles and monotone walls. Today, the bathroom is a canvas—an intimate space where colour brings personality, warmth, and depth. Whether it’s calming earth tones, bold accents, or playful contrasts, the right palette transforms function into feeling.
There are no rules when it comes to choosing colours. If you’re unsure, then take it slow. Rather than tiling an entire wall, start with a coloured feature wall or add a “pop” of colour with our metallic finished shower niches from our Elements Wetrooms range.

#6 Preparation is key
Before tiling any walls or floors we recommend using our Abacus Elements Building Board to create a comprehensive waterproofing and insulation system for any bathroom, wet room or steam room.

Important tips for tiling your bathroom
• MEASURE THE SPACE ACCURATELY
Make sure the trim you select is suitable for your tile thickness. The icon will show the tile thickness for each range. Before you

When calculating the space it is important to make sure you add at least 10% extra for waste and cuts. You don’t want to be half way through a project and run out.
• SELECT YOUR PERFECT TILES
Our products are grouped by style, making it easy for you to find the perfect option for your project, from stunning marble finishes to contemporary concrete effect. There really is a style to suit your space.
• THINK ABOUT YOUR SPACE
When selecting a tile range, make sure it is suitable for your space. Is the tile suitable for both wall and floor use? Does it have a slip resistance that makes it suitable for wetrooms?

EASY TO INSTALL
For a clean, drill-free setup, apply a strong construction adhesive or grab glue directly to the back of each panel. Press firmly onto the wall for a secure bond. This method is ideal for smooth, even surfaces.
Alternatively, install panels using appropriate screws through the acoustic felt into the wall.
Cut panels to size across the width using a finetoothed handsaw.

EASY TO INSTALL
Very simple to install either by bonding with grab adhesive or for ceiling installations we recommend mounting with screws through the panel and into your wall. Cut panels to size across the width using a fine-toothed handsaw.
Installation Tip
Our waterproof slatwall panels are suitable for use in bathroom environments, including shower areas. However, we do not recommend installation on walls where recessed fixtures such as wall-mounted shower valves or brassware accessories are fitted. These areas typically require precise cut-outs and a fully watertight seal, which may be difficult to achieve with slatwall panels.
