Aarikanpyöreä aika The timeline of Aarikka
Kaikki alkoi 1954, ja on jatkunut siitä lähtien. Nyt maailma on entistä aarikkalaisempi.
Aarikka syntyi Kaijasta. Kujeilevasta, kurittomasta ja kapinallisesta, Aarikasta itsestään, Somerolla sisuuntuneesta.
Se oli alusta alkaen mielihyvää ja arkijuhlaa, koristeellisia käyttöesineitä, käytännöllisiä koriste-esineitä, puuta, pyöreää, selkeitä linjoja ja yksityiskohtien kauneutta. Iloa ja kurittomuutta – kun katsottiin kaanonia silmään
ja sanottiin, että tässä maailma on aarikanpyöreä, ja siinä on syynsä ja syynsä.

It all began in 1954, and it has continued ever since. Now the world is even more like Aarikka - round and joyful.
Aarikka was born from Kaija. A mischievous, unruly rebel with grit, Aarikka by name, roots in Somero. Since the beginning, it has been about delights and everyday indulgences, decorative utility items, practical ornaments, wood, round shapes, clear lines and the beauty of detail. Joy and unruliness – looking the canon in the eye
and saying that the world here is round like Aarikka, and why not go against the grain for a change.
Aarikka is founded on its strong roots. Roots of unruliness and vitality. Growing stronger by the years.
We are committed to work towards a more robust Aarikka - continuously. Aarikka has since been given a new image and a voice that will spread even more forcefully in the coming years.
We have given our online store a new look, enhanced our digital marketing, reacquainted ourselves with Aarikka, and made plans worthy of the brand. A world like Aarikka is opening and growing –and us with it.

Pässi
Rakastettu Pässi tuli muotoonsa Kaijan työpöydällä jo 1973. Ja minkä aika ajattomalle mahtaisi. 50 vuotta Pässi on ollut osa Aarikkaa. Nyt juhlimme tätä ajatonta muotokielen kauneutta ja rohkeutta, Pässin vallattomuutta. Pässi kestää ja kestää, ylpeänä seisten sisun merkkinä, sydämessään Aarikka.

The beloved Pässi Ram took shape on Kaija’s workbench back in 1973. And what could time ever do to something as timeless as this? For 50 years, Ram has been part of Aarikka. Now we celebrate this timeless design, beauty, and boldness. The mischievous nature of Ram. Ram can take on anything, standing proud as a sign of perseverance, with Aarikka in its heart.
Ram was born to be a symbol of perseverance. It soon rose to one of the most famous Finnish design classics. It’s design and symbolism was enough, its round shape met with the sturdy warmth of wood.

When Aarikka and Hetkinen met, two similar entities found each other—both respectful of nature, drawing inspiration from it. A unique collaboration was born, a tribute to the diversity of the forest. And to the wood—the pearl of the forest. For in the forests and trees lie the keys to our well-being, the essence of everything. Pine, the first piece of the Forest series, was created. That’s where the forest begins.

Kaija Aarikka syntyy 3.2.1929. Kaija Aarikka is born on 3.2.1929.
1954
Kaija valmistuu tekstiilitaiteilijaksi Ateneumista. Kaija graduates as a textile artist from Ateneum.
1960
Ensimmäinen oma liike Nappi-Aarikka. First own shop Nappi-Aarikka.
1963
Oma kutomo Helsingissä. Own textile mill in Helsinki.
1964
Hopeinen Rippis-riipus tulee valikoimiin. Tämä otetaan uudistuotantoon vuonna 2020 nimellä Yllätys Risti-riipus.
1968
Pujo-lelu valitaan New Yorkissa vuoden kehittävämmäksi leluksi.
1969
Designklassikko syntyy: Keisarinnan jäljittelemätön kauneus lumoaa muotoilun ystäviä. Upeat Discus-verhot näkevät päivänvalon.
1970
A silver Rippis pendant is added to the collection. The pendant is re-produced in 2020 named as Yllätys Risti pendant.
The Pujo toy is selected as the most educative toy of the year in New York.
A design classic is born: The inimitable beauty of Keisarinna enchants design lovers. The wonderful Discus curtains see the light of the day.
Aarikalle Tanskasta Vuoden leluvalmistaja -palkinnon. Aarikka receives The Toy Manufacturer of the Year Award.
1973
Kaija Aarikka suunnittelee ikonisen Pässin, suomalaisen sisun symbolin. Puupalloista tietenkin. Samana vuonna myös Riemuraita-peltipurkit näkevät päivänvalon, ja ovat tuotannossa vuoden 1973.
1976
Kaija Aarikka piirtää alkuperäisen Lemmikkikukan, Aarikan vuosikymmeniä kestävän, ajattomaksi muotoutuvan oman lemmikin.
1980
Aarikan rakastetut mobilet syntyvät, ensimmäisenä niistä Tähtöset.
Kaija Aarikka designs the iconic Pässi, the symbol of Finnish guts, from wood of course. In the same year, Riemuraita tin cans also see the light of the day. Those were in production in 1973.
Kaija Aarikka draws the original Lemmikki flower, a flower that will last for decades and become timeless.
Aarikka’s beloved mobiles are born, the first of them being Tähtöset.

Kaija Aarikan suunnittelema ensimmäinen tonttu tulee myyntiin jouluna. Siitä lähtien tonttusuku kasvaa uusilla hahmoilla joka vuosi.

Vuoden yrittäjä -palkinto sekä Vientipalkinto. Puinen ja pyöreä nauttii 80-luvun nousukauden kiidosta.

Suomalainen perheyritys Martinex ostaa Aarikan.
2019
The first elf designed by Kaija Aarikka goes on sale at Christmas. Since then, the elf family grows with new characters every year.
Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Export Award. The wooden and round Aarikka is enjoying the boom of the 80s.
Martinex, a Finnish family-owned company, buys Aarikka.

2020
Aarikka Fashion lanseerataan, se palauttaa Aarikan muoti- ja tekstiilijuurilleen. Valikoimaan tuodaan vaatteet, laukut ja asusteet.
Aarikka aloittaa yhteistyön laulaja-lauluntekijä Jenni Vartiaisen kanssa. Yhteistyöstä syntyy neliosainen hopeakorusarja.
2022
Aarikka Fashion is launched, returning Aarikka to its fashion and textile roots. Clothes, bags and accessories are added to the collection.
Aarikka starts a collaboration with singersongwriter Jenni Vartiainen. The collaboration results in a four-piece silver jewellery set.
Rakastetut Tontut täyttävät 40 v. The beloved elves turn 40 years old.

The iconic design classic Pässi turns 50.
Aarikka juhlii 70-vuotissyntymäpäiviään. Aarikka celebrates its 70th birthday.
