PORTFOLIO 2021

Hello!

This is a collection of my selected work from my academic and personal time. Throughout this journey, I have explored different skills, transitions, scales and spatial qualities. There is always more to learn in everything, and I am always looking forward to adding to the place and people I am with. I hope that the next few pages can best show my advances in design and give you an insight into my curiosities.

MellowDRAMA

A community center for all and co-working for the working woman

ITPL/Marathalli Bangalore

Semester 2

Hand drafts, sketches, AutoCAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, SketchUp Pro, Enscape

7 6

MellowDRAMA, a Community Centre for Kundanahalli, an area in North Bangalore, is designed for its unique context and demographic. Taking a closer look showed us that the place was a mixture of older middle-aged couples living in large independent residences and several young generations living in the increasing number of youth hostels and paying-guest centres. Considering the tight living conditions of the working generation, this community centre accommodates co-working spaces on the upper floor and various activity rooms, a perfect place to be on a Wednesday evening.

The Art Pavillion will become a centre for various communities to come together and hold sessions, conduct workshops and showcase their work. it will enhance any weekend, festival or event hosted in the vicinity. The objective is to create a space that will take you through the displayed pieces without obstructing your current path. A long, shaded walkway of sorts, this Pavillion can hold up to a hundred and fifty people at once. It is in the heart of Cubbon Park, Bangalore, where everyone from students to the elderly to dog walkers to performers is welcome.

The site is located along the road to the famous Chamundeshwari Hill Temple, making the supermarket at the front a pit stop for people who are enroute. The master planning creates a seamless connection between its outdoor communal areas to the coconut plantations outside the property to the hills in the background. This seamlessness was also carried along to the swimming pool, that utilises the pond naturally present in the site, giving a feel of an even larger water body, and a different experience when using. The design of the community housing emerged from the emotion of living together, and hence developed the form of a large SuperBlock. This large unit houses different typologies of of smaller housing units, also offering communal spaces and buffer corridors that give more fluidity and porousity to the built environment.

IDEATION OF SPACES

Usually, each floor in a school becomes its own segment with students spending almost all their hours there. My concept was to create spaces that bring together people based on their circulation routes, providing visual connect between floors while also maintaining order in its zoning.
