Draft Party
1. Know the Basics Before Draft Day
Learn how the scoring works in your league (e.g., PPR – points per reception –or standard). This will help you understand which positions and players might be more valuable.
2. Don’t Just Draft Your Favorite Team’s Players
It’s tempting to fill your roster with players from your favorite NFL team, but you’ll do better if you spread your picks across the league. This protects you if your favorite team has a bad week or season.
3. Running Backs and Wide Receivers Are Your Core
In most leagues, running backs (RBs) and wide receivers (WRs) score the most points. Try to secure strong players at these positions early in the draft.
4. Wait on Quarterbacks
Unless you ’ re grabbing one of the top-tier QBs, you can usually find good value later in the draft. Use your early picks on RBs and WRs instead.
5. Pay Attention to Bye Weeks
Players have one week each season where they don’t play (their “bye week”).
Avoid loading up on players at the same position with the same bye week, or you might be short-handed.

6. Keep an Eye on the Draft Board
Watch what other managers are picking so you can anticipate when a position might start running out of good options (known as a “position run”).
7. Don’t Panic if Someone Steals Your Pick
It happens to everyone. Have a short list of backup players you’d be happy to draft in each round so you can pivot quickly.
8. Use Your Last Picks for Upside
In the late rounds, take a chance on rookies or players in new roles. You can always drop them later if they don’t pan out.
9. Participate Live if You Can
Autodraft is fine in a pinch, but being there live lets you react to the flow of the draft and grab value picks when they fall to you.
10. Have Fun and Talk Some Trash
Half the fun of fantasy football is the camaraderie, jokes, and lighthearted rivalry. Just remember to keep it friendly!
