Introduction to

Space

This project was an introduction to space and circulation as well as the creation of basic plans and sections. What began as two dimesional figure-ground compositions, morphed into three dimensional artifacts that were eventually given human scale and program. My goal for the project was to explore the possibility of a dominant central space, that remained smaller in size.

First Steps

Habitation Human

Second Semester’s final project was the first dip into a project with a program, realistic dimensions and site conditions, as well as mean to be lived in. The project entailed a home to be built riverside in San Antonio, Tx. While the only re- strictions were the site dimensions, a focus for this project was to explore shading solutions that could integrate into the design language of the building itself. The home makes use of its orientation and shading devices to provide privacy and shade to its glass heavy rooms and open courtyard. The home features 3 beds, 4 baths, an office, library, and more.

Public Space

Third semester project saw the in- troduction to large multiuse spac- es. In the case of this, a museum exhibit space featuring public out- door spaces and cafe. The project is located on the Trinity River, just outside of Dallas, Tx. Upon visiting the site, the focus became finding a way to use the berm to the proj- ect’s advantage and integrate it into the building.

Modular Facades ARCH317

During third semester, I found myself in several projects exploring the possibilities of modular facade cladding. These modules were designed using a variety of digital processes ranging and software ranging from AutoCAD, grasshopper, Rhino, and others. Once designed, a slew of processes, such as CNC, Lasercutting, and 3D printing, were used to create physical models of these modules. It was important for these facades to be formed from the repition of three basic pieces that could be combined in various ways to form a new whole. Furthermore, the designs had parametric properties that gave them life and aesthetic appeal. Finally, last last major consideration being sun shading.

REVIT Introduction

During a head first dive into learning how to usRevit, I created several sing family homes to from the ground up. The projects included everything from the plans and sections, to the structure, and to the roof trusses. The homes were also furnished and given textures. Finally, the homes were rendered in Lumion to finish out the sheets for the homes.
