he project is within a land which will be sub-divided into two plots once building completed and both are owned by the Employer. The existing house has occupants and consideration will be required so as not to inconvenience the existing residents. In terms of experience, it was great opportunity to involve actively in stage 5-6 process. The initial major task was review of the process with builder and structural engineer and update the drawing for the change. In further process, the major task shifts to review the joinery and light detail with interior design contractor team. Currently, I am fixing the finish materials and productions with the client and interior design team.

he liberated ground suggests alternative housing typology equipped with collective infrastructure to accommodate the diverse population flux of Aberdeen. It responds to seasonal use of the coastal landscape near the newly developing harbour in Torry, Aberdeen. It proposes an extension of Torry neighbourhood towards the fluid territory; Wetland Park and coastal landscape. The proposal forms an inclusive environment that fosters the forming of a more resilient and diverse community, and it activates the ground that has been left obsolete for decades. This proposed environment demonstrates housing as no longer a home, but as a collective infrastructure and Liberated Ground is a device that promotes social interaction through a series of collective spaces.

Seasonal Costal town Along with, new housing targets merely renewable energy workers and tourists as major actor in town while it is not. This postrationalising development will intensify limited capacity of social infrastructure and restriction of public access similar to byproduct of oil development. Thus, the project argues that demography in Torry has constantly diversified through series of industrial transition, and thus, forming isolated housing blocks related to certain industry for certain period has to be reconsidered as it shapes segregated environment after peak of industry boom. Therefore, project proclaims an alternative housing design that provides flexible co-living environment to accommodate room for all.

The platform emphasises interaction to 4 moments of site; slope, water pond, ferry dock and train station. And design simulation enhances 3 considerations; access, garden and events. The stage of access proposes different pathway regard to water and slope. The Garden phase forms the collecting point, slowing or congregating people movement by interacting with landscape. Large public squares and sports parks are presented as social intersection points. The enclosed quarters are partly populated to react on privacy and rainfall. Among series of platforms, although it has hint of space use for each platform, it will be constantly modified by subjects’ demand.

Housing as Collective Infrastructure

A

s a series of categorised impenetrable housing blocks development forms the isolated domestic environment, the project claims housing block has to be considered as interchangeable domestic space for complex community instead of collection of individual subject. The project, therefore, organises a series of platforms that change the use and occupation of the ground. It proposes two different scales of collective spaces; a ground platform for communal use that operates as a mediator between various forms of the collective activities, and a fluid landscape of the park (wetland). Secondly, it proposes shared spaces within the new housing blocks that contain towers and low-rise slabs. The proposed housing units provide multiple forms of flexible spaces and share facilities that can be modified by subject.

I believe key Role as Architect helps people how to use and organise the space. The drawing is key performance to materialise the imagination responding to people’ need. This core objection as Space Curator has not been changed and this factor will not be changed regardless the change of city form, technology development and life-style.
