Anti-Harassment and Anti-Bullying
Dear Colleagues,
The Human Resources department invites your feedback on the attached draft AntiHarassment and Anti-Bullying Policy.
Once formally adopted by Council, this policy will supersede the existing Policy on Sexual Harassment and Assault in the Workplace, last approved in 2013 (C2013/05).
Policy Overview
The proposed Anti-Harassment and AntiBullying Policy outlines UWC’s commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all members of the university community; including staff, students, contractors, service providers, and visitors.

- On-campus and off-campus activities (e.g., field trips, conferences, social events such as year-end functions)
- Digital platforms (e.g., social media, messaging apps)
Key features of the policy include:
- A zero-tolerance approach to all forms of harassment and bullying, both physical and digital
- Clear definitions of harassment, bullying, sexual harassment, cyberbullying, restorative justice, and confidentiality
- Alignment with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
- Compliance with the 2022 Code of Good Practice on the Prevention and Elimination of Harassment in the Workplace, issued under Section 6 of the Employment Equity Act
