About this Book From Our Family to Yours …
A delicious dish can cross a table, traverse oceans, or even travel through time. But food, much like memories, can only be preserved if there's someone there to carry the knowledge, and flavors, to future generations. In “From Our Family To Yours...”, students, family members, and staff do just that! The students of Chicas Verdes Garden Program at Da Vinci Connect TK-8 interviewed family members about recipes and cuisine that had a personal or cultural significance to not only keep a record of the flavors our families carry with them, but to share them with everyone in the school's community. Chicas Verdes's mission is to cultivate socially conscious leaders by deepening young people's connection to nature, and what better way to nurture that connection than through food!
