The Alaska Botanical Garden believes that every child learns best by experiencing the world firsthand. Are We Alone? Aliens, UFOs and the search for life beyond Earth
Astrobiology is the scientific study of the possibility of life beyond the Earth. With Dr. Travis Rector, an astronomer whose work has been featured in National Geographic and the New York Times, and more will lead campers to answer questions such as: What places in our solar system, and beyond, might be suitable for life? What might that life look like, and how would it be different than here? How might we communicate with advanced alien life? The camp will be held inside the UAA Planetarium and Visualization Theater. Campers will engage in activities such as designing their own life forms for a particular exotic world, creating and decoding messages intended for aliens, and investigating evidence for UFOs.

NLSC Summer Swim Camp
Join us for an exhilarating fourday summer swim camp designed specifically for younger/ more inexperienced swimmers middle school age and younger. This intensive program will focus on refining techniques, mastering all four strokes, perfecting turns and mastering starts. With limited spots available, each camper will receive personalized attention and instruction to maximize their potential.
Coach to swimmer ratio: Maximum 1:10
Requirements: Attention parents, this camp is not a learn to swim program, but specially designed for aspiring young competitive swimmers. All campers must be able to swim a 25 yd distance unassisted to attend. Throughout the camp, swimmers perform multiple lengths of each stroke. If your swimmer also plans on attending our morning stroke school intensive, they can join camp following stroke school for a discounted rate.

Our experienced USA Swimming Coaches specialize in working with young swimmers, providing tailored guidance to each participant.
With a maximum of 10 campers per coach, participants receive individualized attention and feedback.
This camp covers a comprehensive curriculum of competitive swimming, including strokes, turns, starts, technique, as well as dry land training. We spend one day on each of the four competitive strokes to help produce proper habits and technique, with many former campers graduating to competitive teams after their week with us. The camp director will evaluate each swimmer at the end of camp to let them know if they have all four strokes legal and ready to join the competition team or will be better suited in one of our group or private lessons to further strengthen skills. Safety is our top priority, and our staff ensures a supportive atmosphere where campers can learn and thrive. All children go on at least two off campus trips/week - one walking trip; one bus trip. Children have bike day once a week; ages 5-9 practice their skills on campus, while ages 10-12 bike off campus. When not “field tripping” or biking, children participate in a myriad of activities, such as: cooking, science, arts and crafts, gym/outdoor games, nature walks and time to just be a kid. Summer of Wonder Camp offers children a season of meaningful play, creativity and connection to the natural world through a Waldorf-inspired approach to summer learning. How to Change the World
From homelessness to immigration and climate change, urgent issues confront our city, our state, our nation and our world. Learn all about the birds who reside at the Alaska Zoo, from birds of prey to wild birds who frequent our wooded grounds. Each day will be something new to include birding, habitats, ecosystems, conservation, zoo bird training, providing enrichment to zoo birds, hands-on activities and encounters with zoo birds and keepers.

Alaska Zoo Adventure Camp: Animals of the Midnight Sun
This camp is a deep dive into the lives of animals who live in Alaska’s northern lands - the Land of the Midnight Sun. Campers will explore the world of pollinators, newborn animals, young animals learning to survive, orphaned animals who arrive at the zoo each summer, adaptations for life in 24-hour sunlight and more. This camp will feature outdoor exploring on zoo grounds, hands-on science and craft activities, and encounters with zookeepers and animals including foxes, martens, porcupines, brown bears, wolves and more.

Alaska Zoo Adventure Camp: Frisky Felines
This is a purrr-fect zoo camp for cat lovers! Campers will spend their week with the cats of the Alaska Zoo - Canadian lynx, snow leopards and Natasha the Amur tiger. The lucky kids in this camp will enjoy close encounters with zookeepers and the cats while observing training, learning about their diets, conservation issues in the wild and wild habits. Campers will make enrichment for zoo cats and participate in outdoor explorations and hands-on “cat”-tivities.

Alaska Zoo Adventure Camp: Howls & Growls
Give us your best howl and your best growl! Campers will love this fun week spent side-by-side with zoo canid and bear species. Learn who howls and who growls, and help zookeepers provide them with a stimulating and interesting week of enrichment and encounters. Learn about canids and bears all around - their form, function, habitats, adaptations, feeding habits and strategies for success. This camp will include lots of animal time, exploration time outdoors and hands-on activities. Encounters will be with foxes, coyotes, wolves, polar bears, brown bears and more.

Alaska Zoo Adventure Camp: Brilliant Bears
Polar, brown and black bears
- we have all three! Campers will learn the “bear” necessities about our beary interesting wild neighbors - and how we can do our part to help keep them wild by being good human neighbors. It’s a dream come true for kids - spend a week of your summer surrounded by Alaska’s three bear species, in a safe camp setting of course. Learn about all aspects of their lives through encounters with zookeepers, enrichment, training sessions, hands-on games and crafts. And we have just “bearly” covered the fun campers will have!

Alaska Zoo Adventure Camp: Exploring Nature’s Giants
Think BIG when you think about enrolling your kids in this zoo camp! We will spend the week exploring the giants of the animal kingdom - the biggest of the land, sea and sky plus the apex of food chains across many ecosystems. Campers will learn fun facts, features, adaptations and lifestyles of a variety of Alaskan and non-native species. This camp will also feature encounters with snow leopards, foxes, polar bears, a tiger and others. Activities will include outdoor explorations on zoo grounds, fun games, engaging hands-on activities and time spent with zookeepers.

Alaska Zoo Adventure Camp: Aquatic Adventures
Campers will go aquatic at this fun and fresh zoo camp, featuring all of the marine and aquatic species at the zoo! Each day will bring new adventures as campers learn about aquatic species from shallow creeks to the deep ocean, with a focus on species at the zoo such as the ermine, mink, river otter, harbor seal and polar bear. Campers will have encounters with zookeepers and all of these species, plus games and hands-on activities.

Alaska Zoo Adventure Camp: Tracks of Alaska’s Animals
Campers will go on a tracking adventure around the zoo, learning the differences in the signs bird and mammal species leave behind. This week will feature many encounters with zoo animals, including handson track activities and outdoor explorations. This is our last week of summer zoo camp and a great way to cap off the summer break. Campers are sure to have wild stories to share with their friends!

Journey with us to the Emerald Crossing: An Irish Adventure Through Psalm 23. Every stop along our path will teach us about the Good Shepherd, Jesus, and how He cares for us, His sheep.
We hope your kids will join us for our high-energy Emerald Crossing VBS full of wacky characters, lively songs, snacks, games, crafts, missions and, most importantly, meaningful Bible lessons.

Shining a Light on Who Jesus Really Is Kids age 4-grade 6 are invited to Illumination Station VBS for the brightest week of the year! At Illumination Station VBS, kids will be challenged to answer Jesus’ important question to His disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” They will explore through crafts, snacks, music, missions, recreation and Bible study all the ways light brightens, illuminates, reflects and reveals, and they will discover that Jesus is the light who brings hope to a dark world.

Solid Rock Bible Camp
Since 1958, Solid Rock Bible Camp has provided the youth of Alaska with outdoor experiences to encourage a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Located on the central Kenai Peninsula on nearly 200 acres surrounding Miracle Lake, Solid Rock creates an environment that removes the distractions and expectations of everyday life and allows kids to explore decisions, friendships and faith in an environment that encourages connection and learning.
