Announcing your 4ocean Supporter Impact

A toolkit for making a splash

Welcome to the Movement!

Over 10 million tons of plastic enter the ocean each year. It’s one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time. But together, we have the power to change that story.

By becoming a 4ocean Supporter, your business is joining a global community committed to protecting and restoring our one shared ocean. Your support will empower coastal communities, support local crews, funds large-scale cleanups, and drives measurable environmental impact that restores ecosystems and protects endangered animals.

This isn’t just a campaign. It’s a movement to transform the way business interacts with the ocean, from extraction and pollution toward protection and regeneration.

As a 4ocean Supporter, you’re not only helping us remove plastic and trash from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines, you’re showing your customers, employees, and stakeholders that your brand stands for something bigger: a future where the ocean thrives.

Explaining 4ocean 1

What is 4ocean?

4ocean was founded by two surfers who witnessed firsthand the overwhelming amount of plastic pollution littering coastlines during a trip to Bali, Indonesia. What began as a personal mission to clean up the beaches they loved quickly grew into the realization that the issue was global in scope and demanded a scalable solution. From that moment, 4ocean was built on the idea that business could be a force for good, a vehicle not just for awareness, but for measurable, lasting change.

Since our founding in 2017, we’ve grown into an international ocean cleanup Public Benefit Corporation, funding cleanup operations in multiple countries. We empower daily cleanups on rivers, coastlines, and in open water to remove plastic pollution before it can impact marine ecosystems. The company’s innovative model - funding cleanups through product sales and partnerships - has allowed us to remove tens of millions of pounds of trash from the ocean, all while empowering local captains and crews in the impacted communities who engage fulltime in the cleanup mission.

Explaining 4ocean

How your support works

Every 4ocean Supporter commitment translates into real, measurable impact in the fight against ocean plastic. When you choose a Supporter plan, you’re funding our captains and crews to remove plastic and trash directly from oceans, rivers, and coastlines every month. Your support also comes with tools and resources — including badges, marketing assets, and your impact certificate — so you can proudly share the story of your contribution with your community.

Communicating About Your Support 4

Communicating About Your Partnership

Communicating About Your Support

Here are some simple do’s and don’ts to help you talk about your 4ocean support clearly and consistently.

Note: Your partnership type determines how you communicate about your impact.

Certified Supporter pulls plastic and trash/debris from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines.

You might want to say: What you

“Our company single-handedly cleans the ocean.”

should say instead: Why not...

“As a 4ocean supporter, we’re helping fund cleanups that have removed [X pounds] of trash from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines.”

“We sponsor/ donate to 4ocean”

“We’ve eliminated all ocean plastic.”

“We’re proud to support 4ocean’s verified cleanup operations and contribute to measurable ocean impact.”

“Our support helps remove plastic and trash directly from the ocean and coastlines, while driving awareness and action.”

“We are certified ocean safe.”

“We help clean the ocean.”

“We’re an certified 4ocean Supporter / proud supporters of 4ocean’s global cleanup mission.”

“Our support contributes to a global movement working to protect and restore the ocean.”

No single company solves ocean plastic alone. Supporter language works best when frames as a part of a collective global effort.

“Sponsor” or “Donates” suggests a transactional relationship. Support emphasizes shared values and measurable impact. Overclaims can damage credibility. Stay focused on measurable actions and real impact.

Avoid using unofficial certifications or terms. Stick to the official supporter program name provided by 4ocean.

Support is not an “award” — it’s an active commitment and ongoing journey.
