www.advertisingdar.com Ingredients: • 1 full chicken (uncut) • Salt for flavor • Ground black pepper • 1 yellow onion (cut into large pieces) • 3 carrots (cut into medium sized pieces) • 2 stalks of celery (cut in large pieces) • 1 head of garlic (halved) • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil • 3 tablespoons melted butter • 1 lemon (halved) • 1 bunch of fresh thyme • 1 kilo of potatoes (sweet potatoes are optional) • 3 tablespoons of canola oil/vegetable oil • 12 large crushed garlic cloves • 2 teaspoons salt • 3/4 teaspoons black pepper

moment December begins and all you can think about is the yummy food you’ll eat to celebrate the festivities! Oh, and let’s not forget the presents. Suddenly, there’s a reason to celebrate with friends, family and loved ones. What’s a better way to celebrate than sharing a meal together? Here is the perfect option of a 3-course meal you can prepare for your friends and family to enjoy the holidays. Starter: Honey and garlic cauliflower What’s better than a healthy starter to prepare you for the perfect main course? These easy to make crunchy bites will set the perfect mood for the rest of the foods to come! Ingredients: • 1 cup all-purpose flour • 2 cups breadcrumbs • 3 large eggs • 1 head cauliflower (chopped into bite sized pieces) • 1/3 cup of honey • 1/3 cup of soy sauce • 2 garlic cloves (minced) • Juice of 1 lime • 1 tablespoon of sriracha/hot sauce • 1/4 cup of water • 2 teaspoons of corn starch • Sliced scallions (optional) Directions: • In a large bowl, combine the flour and cauliflower and mix until the cauliflower is fully coated. Pour the breadcrumbs in a different bowl and set aside. • In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and dip the flour coated cauliflower pieces in beaten eggs then dip in the breadcrumbs until fully coated. • Place on a baking sheet and sprinkle salt and pepper generously on the coated cauliflower ready to be baked at 180°c for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remember to pre-heat your oven. • As your cauliflower is baking, make the sauce by first whisking cornstarch and water in a bowl until the cornstarch has fully dissolved. • In a saucepan, mix the honey, soy sauce, sriracha/hot sauce, garlic and lime juice over a medium heat stove. • As the mixture reaches a boil, add the cornstarch and leave to simmer at low heat until the sauce thickens. This will take about 2 minutes. • Once your cauliflower is done baking, toss it into your sauce, fully coating it and return the cauliflower back on the baking sheet and into the oven for a further 3 minutes and serve with a garnish of scallions (optional). Main: Roast chicken with potatoes You can never go wrong with chicken! In this case, a whole chicken. Worried about what you’re going to do with an entire chicken? We’ll show you. And what’s perfect about this is that if you have any leftovers, roast chicken is great in a salad, sandwich and even soup! With a side of roasted potatoes, what could be better than this? Page 14

Directions: • After cleaning, pat the chicken dry on a baking pan large enough for it and season with the salt and pepper, not forgetting to tie the legs with a string (optional). • Fill the baking pan with the cut vegetables and toss in the extra virgin olive oil and season with salt. • Brush the chicken with the melted butter and stuff it with the lemon and some thyme. • In a preheated oven of 180°c, roast the chicken for 50 minutes to an hour, later on cover it with a foil until done, let the chicken rest before carving. • Cut your potatoes in half and put into a bowl. • Toss in the oil, garlic, salt, black pepper and thyme on the potatoes and mix well until the potatoes are well coated. • On a baking pan, roast the potatoes at 200c for 25 to 30 minutes or until the potatoes are golden brown and serve with the chicken once done Dessert: Sugar cookies To top of your perfect 3 - course meal, sugar cookies are the way to go! The best thing about this recipe is your family can be involved and it can be a family affair. Ingredients: For the cookie dough • 3 cups all-purpose flour • 1 teaspoon baking powder • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1 cup of softened butter • 1 cup granulated • 1 large egg • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1 tablespoon milk For the buttercream frosting • 2 cups of soften butter • 5 cups powdered sugar • 1/4 heavy cream • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1/4 teaspoon salt • Food coloring Directions: • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. • In a separate bowl, whisk the sugar and softened butter until fluffy. Add the milk, eggs and vanilla extract and beat until fully combined. • Gradually add the flour mixture into the wet ingredients until fully combined and into a dough. • Wrap the dough in cling film and refrigerate for an hour. • After the hour, roll out the dough onto a lightly floured surface until 1 inch thick and cut into the desired shapes. This will definitely be fun for the kids! Make sure you freeze the shaped cookies for about 10 minutes, so they hold as they bake. • As the cookies are in the fridge/freezer, make your frosting by first beating the butter with a hand mixer until completely smooth. • Add the powdered sugar and beat until there are no lumps that remain. • Pour in the vanilla extract, cream and salt and mix until combined. You can add the food coloring to the frosting and set aside. • Bake the cookies in a preheated oven set at 180°c for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are golden. • After baking, let them cool, frost and decorate as you please. advertising dar Issue Nº 1114
