SPRING LAMBS Numbers continue to rise with new and returning customers present every week keen to attend this popular Monday morning sale, buyers keen to fill orders for all classes and types of lambs. A market average today of 435p/kg for Lambs ranging from 34kg to 53kg, this being 80p up on the equivalent time last year. Leading todays sale at £240 for Texel lambs were regular supporters D & K Swarbrick with J Lamb achieving £234 for Texel, and Charollais selling to £230 from T & S Blades. Well finished pure and ¾ bred lambs nicely selling at £210+ with super heavies to £202 for Zwartbles from J Ward. A straight grass-fed lamb today £175 to £190 depending on finish. 579p/kg lead todays sale for a Beltex from KA Purtill with other well-bred lambs eagerly bid for and selling at 510p/kg to 560p/kg. The better end of first cross Lambs 480p/kg to 505p/kg with grass finished 430p/kg to 450p/kg. More Lambs required and easily sold every Monday.
