Weekly Report & Newsletter - 14th August 2026 North West Texel Breeders Club Annual Show & Sale of Pedigree Texel Rams & Females, Sunday 9th August 2026 Sharp Trade for Pedigree Texels at J36 North West Auctions held its annual Show and Sale of Pedigree Texel Rams and Females on behalf of the North West Texel Breeders Club, attracting strong interest from breeders across the region and beyond. A buoyant trade throughout the day resulted in quality stock meeting a ready demand from start to finish. Leading the way was the pre-sale show first prize Gimmer from Messrs P K & R Woof, judged first prize by Alan Clark. The outstanding Gimmer Shearling, a daughter of Ettrick Huntsman, combined power, style and correctness, drawing intense ringside bidding before topping the sale at 3,800gns. The successful purchaser was Alan Blackwood of the Auldhouseburn flock. The Gimmer Shearling section was packed with quality throughout. Messrs Teward sold a stylish daughter of their 4.5K Tillycairn Hamish to 2,000gns, while TA & R Laird followed closely behind at 1,900gns. Demand remained consistent, with a further trio of impressive gimmer shearlings each selling to 1,800gns. The shearling ram trade reflected the strength seen throughout all sections. Topping at 3,000gns was a powerful Vallum Horsepower son from Andrew J Clark, making a new home with BJS Farms. Renowned for producing elite stock, TA & R Laird sold a stylish Cambwell Godfather son to 2,000gns, purchased by RG & B Lewis. Matching this figure were quality entries from RP & S Whitley and C Cornthwaite, both selling to 2,000gns. Ram lambs were met with equally spirited bidding. The section topper came from Alan Blackwood, whose tremendous 110k Midlock Inferno son, realised 2,600gns when purchased by R & E Ladds of the Benson Hall flock. Next best at 2,300gns was an eyecatching Auldhouseburn Imperial King son from David J McKerrow, finding a new home with J Woodburn & Partners of the Mansriggs flock. Numerous other ram lambs sold comfortably in excess of 1,500gns, underlining the depth of quality on o er. Continuing a memorable day for the flock, Messrs P K & R Woof also led the ewe lamb trade. A pen of strong daughters of Drimsynie Islander, sold to 1,800gns to Messrs Askwith of the Mown Meadows flock, with two further lambs from the same home each achieving 1,000gns. Overall, it was a tremendous sale from beginning to end, delivering a vibrant ringside atmosphere, a remarkable 92% clearance rate and an encouraging start to the upcoming breeding sales season.
