PRIME LAMBS Lancaster weekly sale of prime lambs saw numbers short of buyers requirement with just short of 400 through the ring. Sale to a cracking average of £205.50 per head or 478ppk sqq and 475ppk overall for a more commercial show of lambs. The better bred well meated lambs very similar on the week topping at £250 or 560ppk from regular Lancaster supporter Dave and Karen Swarbrick, Out Rawcli e for Texel lambs. Other texel lambs from Kevin Purtill, Wigan topping at 575ppk. Handy weight texels to £214 from S Wilson & Son, Scotforth. Plenty of texel lambs 41-45kg round the 550ppk mark or £230 mark. Kevin Purtill, Wigan continued his good days trading with Su olks to £240 with other Su olks to £212 from G Sagar & Son, Caton. More lambs required next week to keep the new and regular buyers satisfied. PRIME HOGGS Just a handful of hoggs today, with meaty hoggs still in plenty of demand, all averaging 389p/kg. Topping today at £225 from J Smith, Lancaster for heavy weight Cheviots, with other Cheviots at handy weights 420p/kg from D Wightman, Burton in Kendal. CULL SHEEP Cast sheep saw numbers very similar on the week with trade very much on par with previous weeks. WA & LM Jenkinson, Stalmine taking the top spot this week with their Texel ewes to £228 with other from the same good home to £215 who also has Dutch Spotted to £165.
