PRIME HOGGS
Prime hoggs sell to £197 and 448ppk at NWA Lancaster. The popular Monday morning sale saw a wide range of hoggs forward ranging from 27-66kg with an overall market average of 339ppk and sqq average of 345ppk. Well finished and handy weight hoggs were once again in keenest demand, topping at 448ppk and £197 for a pen of Beltex x from JE Parkinson & Son, Quernmore with others nicely 380-395ppk and £172-£186. Heavy weight still experiencing some resistance with the best to 386ppk and £189 from R Capstick & Son with others 310-325ppk and £160-£180. Hill bred hoggs saw Cheviots achieve 388ppk and £163, Mules to 343ppk and £160 and Horned to 331ppk and £146.

PRIME HOGGS
Trade goes the right way at J36
Up and up and up! No stopping the Hogg trade today at Kendal as all shapes, types and sizes warmly welcomed and dearer on the week and compared to other centres. Sheep topped at 485p/kg for a Beltex from Messrs RT Colbear and heavies hit £200 from Harry Geldard.
Todays overall average was 354p/kg with an SQQ of 361p/kg.
Other hoggs sold to 440p/kg for Texels from Messrs AT Burrow & Son. Lighter Texels sold to 429.7p/kg for 37kgs from Messrs GM & A Jackson. Cheviots from AA Bentham hit 402.6p/kg for a pen of 16 while Herdwicks reached 393.1p/kg for a pen of 8 from Messrs SW & A Hoggarth. A further pen of 10 Herdwicks made 381.6p/kg this time from Colin Glessal. The lighter end of Continental also a flying trade with a pair from LA & M Lambert making 406.9p/kg.

ONLINE SALE OF STABILISER BULLS ON BEHALF OF THE STABILISER CATTLE COMPANY
North West Auctions were delighted to host the Stabiliser Bull-It Sale of 33 bulls on behalf of the Stabiliser Cattle Company.
The sale topped with a record breaking price of £12,100 for Muiresk Black Calvin, a 2 year old by Givendale Black Wolds Best from the Mair family of Turri , followed by Rugley Black Canon from Lucy Jackson at £9600, Huggate Campbell from Gary Shipley at £9500, Selside Black Cli from the Dixon Family of Selside, Kendal at £8800 and Givendale Chancellor from Givendale Farms at £8700.
All bulls sold averaged £7166 with 21 bulls selling. Showing a strong demand for the Stabiliser genetics for fertility, e iciency and commercial performance.

CALVES
132 calves forward today with trade for all types on another level. Bull calves to £990 for a British Blue from J&B Morley, Appleby who sold others to £930. Charolais from SW&K Metcalfe, Whittington sold to £920 with British Blue from JW&TE Sharp, Lyth and JS Towers & H Kent, Dolphinholme completing the list of vendors passing the £900 mark today. Limousin bulls sold to £850 from Langley Park Farm, Millom with Aberdeen Angus selling to the same price from Bambers Farm, Thurnham. Hereford sold to £785 from JS Towers & H Kent, Dolphinholme with Blondes at six week old reaching £690 from R Heath, Bootle. The youngest rearers sold to £670 x2 for British Blues born 19/02/2026 from Dolphenby Farming Ltd, Penrith who sold others at £660 and £620. Two to three week old Limousin to £600 from B&MJ Nelson, Heversham with Aberdeen Angus to £580 from HJ Robinson, Elm Tree. Black and White bulls in great demand selling to £450 from J&B Morley, Appleby and £440 from W&S Airey, Whittington.
Heifer calves equally as buoyant selling to £980 for a British Blue from J&B Morley,
Appleby with other British Blue’s to £920 for a cracking born 24/01/2026 from A Pickthall, New Hutton. Bambers Farm, Thurnham also hit the £900 mark again for British Blue with a further two from this home at £870. Limousin heifers were in good supply today, selling to £860 from JS Towers & H Kent, Dolphinholme with a very nice run from Langley Park Farms selling to £760 and £710. Aberdeen Angus heifers to £770 from Bambers Farm, Thurnham with Blondes from R Heath, Bootle reaching £680.
Month old heifers to £670 x2 from HJ Robinson, Elm Tree with others £580 and £560 x2 from Dolphenby Farming Ltd, Penrith – these just two to three weeks old. A nice feature of todays sale was a run of Black and White heifer calves from Withgill Farm Ltd, Clitheroe selling to £550, £500, £490, £430, £420 at just two to three weeks old.

STIRKS
Trade for stirks remain buoyant at Junction 36. Average £1267.07.
Cattle throughout remained in demand with buyers wanting all specifications. Topping today’s trade was a quality Limousin cross steer making £1630 from JH Barker, Haverthwaite. Plenty of the same goods were hitting the £1500 mark plus, for smart continental types. Angus, Hereford and Luing types weren’t far behind with demand for these being as strong as anything.
Black and White stirks were in a strong place today, also with an average increase on the previous sale and a top price of £1210, with quite a few getting close to that mark also. Next sale is in two weeks time, entries needed by Wednesday 11th March. Any entries or

Aberdeen Angus bullocks and heifers were both topped by Messrs JE D JER Wightman making £2260 and £2110 respectively. Limousin steers sold to £2260 at 15m of age from Messrs JR & KA Hodgson. Younger ones hit £2240 at 11months old from M & D Hatton and the same price again from Messrs S Procter, Selside. That same good home sold further yearling bullocks to £2180. Other Aberdeen Angus heifers sold to £2080 from Messrs J Holme & Son.
A packet of 5 British Blue heifers hit £2070 from Messrs C Wilson. 9 month old Limousin heifers sold to £1900 for a cracker from Messrs B Wilson, Ashstead.

CALVES
No let up in the calf trade with prices easily maintained from the strength of last week. Plenty of interest in all calves with more easily sold and required at Lancaster Auction.
Best of the beef calves to £940 for a super Aberdeen Angus cross bull from Messrs Kelsall & Wood, Scotforth with British Blue crosses £920 from JS Towers & H Kent, Lancaster.
Returning to Lancaster was RA Bebbington, Greenhalgh who enjoyed selling British Blue heifers to £890 and £880, and steers at the same price. Native sired calves forward in abundance with Aberdeen Angus cross heifers to £800 from RA Bebbington who also sold Hereford cross at £780. Rearing bull calves to £710 from Pickervance Farms Ltd with month olds £650 from I Slater Ltd, Claughton on Brock.
Just a handful of dairy bulls forward with the strongest to £530 from Brades Farm, Farleton with others £500 from JS Towers & H Kent, with dairy bulls averaging £442!!

Lancaster Auction once again proved to be the customers choice for store cattle with a top price of £2520 achieved for Limousin cross steers for PM & ST Entwistle, Abbeystead closely followed by Aberdeen Angus cross steers achieving £2500 from A & E Clarkson Ltd, Cockerham and J & M Cockett, Ingleton. Other stronger end steers regularly £2300£2450 to include Flekvieh at £2450 from R & K Jenkinson, Pilling. Several consignments of younger suckler bred steers forward selling to £2250 for a trio for Limousin cross from TR Prickett.
Heifers perhaps not the strength of previous sales but those forward selling to £2120 for British Blue crosses from M Shepherd & Sons, Pilling with others at £2050 and £2000. Aberdeen Angus cross to £1950 from L Parsons & Sons, Kendal and T & E Garlick & Son, Freckleton. Medium keep heifers generally £1680 to £1800.

Plenty of interest in all classes and types this week with an overall market average of 261p/kg for a sale entry of predominantly dairy bred cows.
Of the beef cows forward these sold to 329.5p/kg for Limousin cross from RHM & S Boyren who travelled down from Ulverston with others to 319.5p/kg from TS & HJ Park, Cowan Bridge and 309.5p/kg from WI & AM Atkinson & Son, Bleasdale. Top grossing was a Limousin cross from TS & HJ Park, Cowan Bridge at £2524 with others generally £2000 to £2400 to include a Hereford cross from Ireland Farm, Kirkby Lonsdale at £2140.
Top of the dairies at 304.5p/kg from G & ME Woodhouse & Sons Ltd, Ellel with half meated nicely 245p/kg to 260p/kg, only the leanest less. A top of £2340 for a Holstein Friesian from T Taylor travelling from Woodplumpton with B & AC Barnes, Kirkby Lonsdale selling Flekvieh at £2032.
Over age heifers sold to 364.5p/kg for a Limousin cross from Pilling Hall, Pilling with dairies to 329.5p/kg for Flekvieh from B & AC Barnes and Holsteins from Drinkall Bros.
Top grossing was an Aberdeen Angus cross from Cowell & Moore at £2273. Steers to 369.5p/kg & £2689 for British Blues x from Cowell & Moore with other Limousin cross to 364.5p/kg & Charolais crosses to £2648.
Just one stock bull forward today selling to 324.5p/kg & £2229 for an Aberdeen Angus.
