Weekly Report and Newsletter- 29th November 2024 Countryside Stewardship Capital Grants DEFRA has announced that due to high demand this year Capital Grant applications will be closed for the time being. This also includes applications that have been submitted and were awaiting an agreement offer which are now on hold in the RPA system. A further update will be shared in early 2025. Sustainable Farming Incentive Annual Declarations Annual Declarations are due towards the end of each year of your SFI agreement. Please note if we have submitted your application we are going down our spreadsheet every month and submitting any that are due. Once your Annual Declaration is submitted you may then need to complete a Rotational Declaration, this will only be for agreements with rotational options. Lancaster Auction Mart: Sale of Prime Lambs, Cast Sheep & Store Lambs, Monday 25th November 2024. Prime Lambs The prime sheep trade at Lancaster takes a nice jump in the right direction, with a pleasing average of 315p/kg. Good quality 43kg Texel lambs sold to 377p/kg from M&S Purtill, West Houghton. KA Purtill, Wigan sold heavier 46kg Beltexs to 370p/kg, again for top quality sheep. M&S Purtill also sold Beltexs to £165 for a pen of two. Mules sold to £157 for a pair from Messrs Kelsall & Sons, Chipping. Lighter weight lambs hit 338p/kg for 38kg Beltexs from Messrs Metcalfe, Ingleton who also had other 37kg lambs at £121. Messrs Rogerson, Appleby received £156 for a nice pen of eight Texels, while the same good home had lighter 42kg lambs to £148. Store Lambs Store lambs at the end of the sale were phenomenal trade, acting as the cherry on top for the day and proving evidence of the massive demand for sheep going forward.
