STORE CATTLE

Store Cattle Still Writing Their Own Story

The fortnightly store cattle sale at J36 saw strong numbers forward once again, with a trade proving considerably sharper than expected against the backdrop of an easier prime beef market.

Whilst some types have lessened in recent weeks, buyers at J36 were clearly still keen, especially for grazing sorts and good farming cattle, resulting in a trade that again stood comfortably ahead of many competing centres. Strong demand for well grown grass type cattle was evident throughout with customers continuing to back quality and long term value, ignoring the short term noise surrounding the finished trade. Bullocks topped today at £2120 for four Limousins from Messrs DJ & S Stainton. British Blue bullocks hit £2000 from Messrs MW & MR Black. Messrs Stainton also topped the heifer section at £2080 for Limousins. British Blue heifers sold to £1900 from Messrs B Wilson.

More cattle are required in two weeks time, Thursday 11th June. The first sale in June will also include our second sale of Breeding Cattle. Please contact the o ice 015395 66200 or Joel McGarva on 07920009097 with entries and/or enquiries.
