Weekly Report and Newsletter - 27th January 2023 Lancaster Auction Mart: Farm Machinery Dispersal Sale on behalf of JG&KM German, Abbeystead, Saturday 21st January 2023. North West Auctions had the pleasure of conducting the farm machinery dispersal sale on behalf of JG&KM German, Abbeystead following their retirement from farming. A large crowd of local and travelled buyers were in attendance with all items selling to their full value. Several of items of interest included a Renault 90-34 4 wheel drive tractor complete with loader which went on to sell at £4900 going to East Yorkshire, the mobile sheep shower unit attracted much attention sold at £3900 finding a new home in Ireland with the Honda ATV staying local selling at £2400 and a David Brown 2 wheel drive tractor complete with loader selling for restoration at £1850. Farm machinery sold to £1700 for a Krone three rotor rake, a Marshall Rotor Spreader selling at £1550, a McHale bale slicer at £1000, cultivation discs at £900 and Malgar 90 tanker at £820. Livestock equipment saw rubber cow mats sell to £470 (for a pack of twenty), sheep dressing crate £420, cattle foot trimming crush £300 and IAE lamb creep feeder £280. Lancaster Auction Mart: Weekly Sale of Prime Hoggs and Cast Ewes, Monday 23rd January 2023. Prime Hoggs An increased entry of 590 hoggs were forward which sold to a sharper trade of 233p/kg, to include a large proportion of upland hoggs and consigners sweepings ups. Heavy weight hoggs continue to meet large demand at Lancaster peaking at £149 from JE&J Pye & Son, Quernmore with others to £134. A consignment of heavy weight hoggs from R&DL Cornthwaite, Nateby sold to £148, £143, £140, £137, £136 and £133. Other leading prices saw the consignment of Texel and Suffolk hoggs from J Bargh & Son, Heaton with Oxcliffe sell to £127, £126, £125 three times and £124. Heavy weight Suffolks from Pilling Hall, Pilling peaked at £126. This was followed by the consignment from AG Butler, Hambleton selling to £125 twice, £124 twice, £123.50 and £123. The top pence per kilo of 285p/kg was consigned by AG Butler with a pair of Beltex’s. Plenty of pens of smarter bred commercial hoggs sold in the region of 270p/kg. Upland hoggs saw heavy weight Mule peak at £120 from JW Cornall & Sons, Bleasedale, Mashams to £118 from T&D Wright, Roeburndale East and WI&A Atkinson & Son, Bleasdale with Leicesters achieving the same price from RH&C Ayrton, Abbeystead. Plenty of pens of well fleshed Mules were between £105 and £110.
