Weekly Report and Newsletter - 25th November 2022 Lancaster Auction Mart: Weekly Sale of Prime Lambs and Cast Sheep. Fortnightly Sale of Store Lambs, Monday 21st November 2022. Prime Lambs A good yard of 1050 prime lambs sold to a keen and competitive trade averaging 245ppk with well finished lambs selling to a premium. Heavy weight lambs sold to a top price of £149 for Beltex cross lambs from WA Cornall, Barnacre. With Suffolk’s to £145 from M&YS Barker, Halton. And Texel cross lambs to £142 from HJ & BE Kelsall, Gressingham. Plenty of heavy weight continental bred lambs regular selling between £135-£145 mark. Well bred lambs were keenly bid for once again at Lancaster with Beltexs selling to a top of 286ppk from B&SA Cater, Ellel. A large show of hill bred lambs were forward with meat once again keenly bid for. Mules sold to a top of £138.50 from GF&EE Holt, Chipping with others at £137 from TA&RM Dawson, Quernmore. Light weight lambs saw a jump in prices in the previous weeks with 37-41kg regular selling to the 245-250ppk mark. Cast Sheep 80 ewes forward at Lancaster today.Texel tups led the way today selling to £188 from G Blacklidge, Chorley. Texel’s sold to £142 from Helme&Procter, Grimsargh. Abit more life in the mule ewes today with a full pen from KA Purtill, Wigan selling to £100. 18 strong Swaledale ewes from WA Cornall, Barnacre sold to £77. Cast Sheep Top Prices: Continental: £142 Brabiner House Farm. Mule: £100 Oak Avenue, £85 Walnut Tree Cottage, £84, £72, £70 Low Moor Head Farm. Texel: £100 Oak Avenue. Swaledale: £98 Holme House Farm, £77 Bank Farm, £68 Lower Brow Top. Cheviot: £96 Dove Cote Farm. Scotch Blackface: £71 Dove Cote Farm. Cast Ram Top Prices: Texel: £188, £100 Dove Cote Farm, £90 Ellers Farm.

Store Lambs 170 store lambs forward sold to a full ring side of buyers sold to an average of £82. Texel lambs sold to £102 from PG Thornton, Scorton who also sold others pens at £100.50.
