Past Trends- Bag Charms

Bag charms became popular during the early 2000’s when luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Fendi, and Chanel began to accessorize their bags with them. They began by adding leather tags and keyrings which grew into using charms like characters, fun shapes and colours etc. They have since became popular again this year when the Labubu collectible toy blew up on TikTok.

Past Trends- Rara Skirts

Rara skirts were popular in the 1980’s, worn as a fashion statement, often with neon tights and leg warmers. They were worn more luxuriously by celebrities like Paris Hilton. The popularity faded with the rise of the mini skirt and resurged later in 2008 and 2019.

What haven’t they done?

Frugi

Not all Frugi clothes are designed for recycling, limiting their circular economy efforts.

Pangaia

While they emphasize eco-friendly materials and processes, they still rely on traditional materials like cotton and polyester, which have significant environmental impacts.

Patagonia’s products are manufactured in multiple countries, contributing to a large carbon footprint from transportation and production processes.

The very first fashion influencers were royalty. When Rose Bertin (considered the first fashion designer) started dressing Queen Marie Antoinette during the 1770s, and Charles Frederick Worth became couturier to Empress Eugenie and Queen Victoria in the mid 1800s. This trend continued until the birth of cinema in the early 1900s, when starlets of the silver screen became the next wave of influencers.

These icons of fashion where known for their elegant, femenine style made purely their own. Many were dressed by famous designers and signature looks were created just for them. Icons like Audrey Hepburn, Maralyn Monroe and Princess Diana are still popular influencers for fashion today.

These Fashion Influenceers started off on Reality TV shows before they blew up as the icons they are today. Gigi and Bella Hadid were models who were often seen in some popular shows like Next In Fashion. Olivia Atwood is a Love island Star who now has multiple of her own reality shows.

The Socialites

These social media influencers are recognised and admired for their bold and luxurious style, and stand out for their impact on fashion trends.

The Future

AI influencers are becoming more and more popular every day. Brands are starting to use them as ambassadors and collaborate with them to maintain a positive online presence.
