Grooming With Love
The Woof Gang concept is to bring a locally owned and operated high quality boutique dog grooming and retail experience to the community. “I first discovered the Flowers Plantation Community more than twenty years ago.” Says co-owner Louise, “I was renting a house off of Lynch Road and there was just something unique about Flowers, I loved how it felt like a treasured island of a small town and now even amongst all the recent growth it has managed to retain that charm.”
When owners Sara and Louise decided to open a franchise together, they knew the Flowers Plantation Community was exactly where they wanted to be. Devoted dog moms themselves, Sara and Louise set about creating the environment and choosing the products that they would want for their own fur babies. Woof Gang Flowers Crossroads opened in August 2021 in the Publix shopping center.
The first challenge was finding talented groomers that would be willing to take a gamble on a new business in a new location with no established clientele. “We were so blessed to find not one but three groomers that shared our vision on how special this location was. Jessie our Salon Manager, took our vision for the grooming salon and with our cornerstone groomers Amanda and Kelsey we started to find our niche “ Dog grooming unlike the human cosmetology industry has no regulatory board or licensing, leaving the individuals to selfregulate standards of quality, sanitation and most importantly safety of the dogs entrusted to their care. So it was priority number one to create a space that made clients know their
pets are in the best hands, whether it is for a simple nail trim, a bath, a full groom for a luxury spa day for their dog. It’s all about Love, Comfort, and Indulgence.
Now in the fourth year in business they have added other amazing groomers like Sydney, Junie, and Laura as well as a strong retail team with faces that are familiar to the Flowers community, Christine and retail manager Dez.
They would love to help your pet look and feel their best or to help you find the perfect dog food for your pets needs, a special cake to celebrate their birthday, or a new toy and seasonal cookie just because the dogs of Flowers Plantation are worth it.
Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming is devoted to the spirit and bond we share with our pets. Making your pets look and feel good is our top priority, and we make this part of everything we do.
The foundation of pet health starts from the food bowl, and Woof Gang leads the way in premium, quality food and treats. We believe in products that are nutritionally balanced and free of harmful ingredients. Our superior pet food brands are formulated to nourish your pet and promote lifelong health.

ORIGIN STORY
Thales Academy's Luddy Institute of Technology (LIT)
By Kent Misegades, Thales Academy LIT Founder; President, AeroSouth Technology
The Luddy Institute of Technology (LIT) was founded in 2013 by Kent Misegades (author of this article) with the goal of offering high school students coursework with a focus on classical skills training integrated with modern engineering and fabrication methods. Since its origin, the LIT program continues to evolve, and a related program—Luddy Industrial Arts (LIA)—has been developed, offering coursework for junior high students as well. Although originally developed to serve students at Thales Academy, the LIT and LIA curricula are now available for other students, parents, and educators, and more materials are in development.
In little more than three centuries, America was transformed from a wilderness into a world-leading economy through the hard work and perseverance of self-sufficient people who grew and made things with their own two hands. Many of our founding fathers and leading Industrialists had little formal classroom education, yet they achieved greatness in their chosen professions through on-the-job training and a lifelong pursuit of self-improvement, combining skills and intellect to create real wealth & improve others’ lives with their products.
My own family has followed this tradition, with most Misegades men being engineers, mechanics, inventors, fabricators, and industrial business leaders since our ancestor,
Heinrich Friedrich Misegades, arrived from Bremen, Germany in 1845 – and promptly went to work as a machinist to support his growing family.
Since the 1970s, American schools have largely eliminated classical skills training, subjects such as industrial arts, home economics, wood-, metal- and auto-shop, as well as lessons related to agriculture. Like many young adults of the 70s who enjoyed such classes, I was raised by parents with many skills – my father was a US Navy-trained electrician who later became an electrical engineer. My mother was a home economics teacher and efficient homemaker. The decay of stable families and demise of such life-essential training have had a devastating impact on young adults’ ability to live independently with fulfilling careers soon after high school, the norm in the America of my youth.
While serving on the Board of Directors of Thales Academy in its initial years, we discussed the need to restore classical skills education to the schools. This quickly led to the establishment of the Luddy Institute of Technology (LIT) in 2013. I had the pleasure of developing the original curriculum and teaching the courses at the Apex & Rolesville, NC, campuses.
Since then, the LIT has grown significantly in scope and sophistication, but has kept true to a focus on classical skills training while also making use of modern engineering and fabrication methods. Today, the LIT has set a new standard for providing young adults with basic life skills while exposing them to the many exciting careers that exist for people who enjoy making things.
An interesting spinoff of the LIT is the North Carolina Triangle Apprenticeship Program (NCTAP.org), which I founded with
Raleigh-area manufacturers in 2013. Based on the best such programs found in Germany and Switzerland, NCTAP provides young adults with an excellent path into industrial careers, the preferred path in many parts of the world since it provides for financial independence at a young age and serves as a strong foundation for lifetime learning. Such programs are thankfully becoming more commonplace in all states where Thales Academy campuses are found, and LIT graduates are uniquely prepared for them.
A decade after my involvement with the foundation of the LIT, it gives me great pleasure to learn of its continued success, and that Thales Academy has expanded on this through its new Industrial Arts program.
Come visit Thales Academy at Flowers Plantation and see our Luddy Institute of Technology and Luddy Industrial Arts programs in action and take a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities.

A RARE SNOWFALL
Flowers Plantation experienced a rare snowfall this winter, transforming the community into a picturesque winter scene. With snow being an uncommon sight in our area, residents and families took full advantage of the moment—capturing beautiful photos and enjoying time outdoors together. It was a memorable event that brought a little extra excitement and seasonal charm to the community.
New Everbrook Academy Child Care and Early Learning Center Opens in Flowers Plantation
Everbrook Academy of Clayton recently opened its doors to serve families in the community with children from six weeks through 12 years old. The school offers infant care through before- and after-school programs — giving families continuity and a long-term school community. “We’re delighted to be a part of the Flowers community,” said Everbrook Academy Principal, Quinlynn Newman. “Our esteemed educational programming and state of the art safety practices offer a one-of-a-kind educational experience that we are excited to bring to families in the Flowers area.”
A Modern Take on Early Learning
The modern facilities of Everbrook Academy include nine bright, contemporary classrooms, thoughtfully designed to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children at every stage. The school also features a highly interactive multipurpose room that’s a favorite with children, an outdoor playground, and healthy meal options with organic and vegetarian choices.
Families also have access to the exclusive SproutAbout app, allowing them to stay closely connected through real-time updates, photos, and live classroom video streaming, offering peace of mind & a true partnership between home and school.
The research backed Learn as we Grow™ curriculum supports children as they explore, discover, and gain independence. With a balanced focus on early academics, creativity, physical development, and social-emotional skills, children are guided toward key milestones preparing them for Preschool & beyond.
In addition, the school will soon be launching unique enrichment programs, including Spanish and yoga classes, to complement each child’s educational journey.
From Parent Night Out events to family and community gatherings, Everbrook Academy goes beyond the classroom to support families, build relationships, and create a connected Flowers community.
