WELCOME

AN IMPORTANT VOTE By Randy St. John, CCM, CCE, General Manager/COO

As the long light of summer begins its turn toward fall, it is my pleasure to welcome you to this issue of 1886. I want to begin with a date I hope you will hold: Wednesday, August 19, at 6:00 p.m. in the Main Clubhouse, when the membership will vote on the proposed capital assessment supporting our Capital Improvement Program. This is a meaningful decision about the future of our facilities encompassing the Golf House, the first floor of the Main Clubhouse, and the Tennis & Racquets House, and it is one we want every member to approach fully informed. To that end, we have prepared a complete set of materials: member one-pagers, renderings, and project summaries are available at the Club and posted online in the members' portal, where you will also find the assessment details and the meeting particulars. For your convenience, online voting is now open, and voting members may cast their ballots here. I would encourage you to review the information ahead of the vote, and please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any member of the Board with questions. Your voice and your participation matter, and we want to hear from you.

WELCOME

On a lighter note, the close of summer brings some of our most cherished traditions. On Saturday, September 5, we invite you and your families to a special end-of-summer celebration: a festive barbecue followed by fireworks over Tuxedo Lake. It promises to be a memorable evening, and we hope you will join us. On Monday, September 7, the Men's and Ladies' Golf Club Championships finals will take place; always a spirited close to the season on the course, and a wonderful chance to cheer on friends and neighbors as our Club champions are crowned. There is much more on the pages ahead, and I thank you, as always, for the many ways you make this Club what it has been since 1886. Here's to a beautiful end to the summer and I hope to see you soon at the Club!

CLUBHOUSE

BEATING THE HEAT By Assistant General Manager Dan Britts, CCM & Clubhouse Manager Alexia Heuer It has been an exciting season at the Clubhouse, and the energy is impossible to miss the moment you walk through the front door. Phase 1 of the Main Clubhouse Refresh Project is nearing completion, and member feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The Members' Dining Room is open, though it won't feel back to full swing until after the summer, when diners return indoors from the terrace. We're grateful for the patience members have shown throughout the process and hope you're enjoying the ambiance it has created. Thank you to the Club's House and Design Committees for their dedicated work on the project. Events The Club's event calendar has been as robust and memorable as ever this summer. Despite the weather, the annual Smokehouse at the Boathouse was a resounding success. As was our Historical Luncheon celebrating 140 years of the history of The Tuxedo Club. This year's Father's Day event embraced a Tailgate Takeover theme and drew record attendance. The 12th annual Concours d'Elegance Field of Driving Dreams continued its growth as well, with car registrations and event participation climbing to yet another record high. Take a look at the full list of upcoming events in the pages ahead, and please mark your calendars!

CLUBHOUSE

Wine The Club's Wine program has delivered a great lineup of events throughout the summer. Club favorites like "La Vie en Rose" Day at the Pool and the Champagne Tasting at the Main Clubhouse continue to show exactly what makes these traditions so beloved. It was a pleasure to host several Library Series winery dinners this summer, with another already on the horizon. Fabien Teitgen, winemaker at Château Smith-Haut-Lafitte and Cathiard Vineyards, and Tom Pillsbury, partner at DuMOL Winery, each joined us for their respective dinners. Coming up on Friday, August 21, Roman Roth, winemaker at Wölffer Estate on Long Island, will join us for another great wine and dine experience. Looking further ahead, upcoming wine events include September's dinner, a fusion of last year's harvest celebration with flavors from the Iberian Peninsula; November's annual Cabernet Dinner, themed "The Judgment of Tuxedo"; and December's Best of the Best Wine Reception, crowning the 2026 wine of the year. Keep an eye out for registration details in the Club's weekly e-blast. Holiday Parties 'Tis the season — well, almost. As summer winds down, now is the time to start thinking ahead to your holiday celebration at the Club. With beautifully decorated spaces and custom menus tailored to any occasion, we're ready to help you create an unforgettable event. Thank you for helping make this summer such a special one — we can't wait to see you soon.

POOL

MAKING WAVES Assistant General Manager Dan Britts, CCM & Pool Director Justine DeVito It has been a fantastic summer at the Pool, filled with sunshine, laughter, and the kind of fun that makes this one of the most beloved spots at the Club. From the recent Game Day to Thursday night Bingo, to our Father's Day's 'Tailgate Takeover’ and the summer-long bocce league, members of every age have found their own way to enjoy the season. One of the biggest wins this summer has been the feedback from members on our updated dining hours. Changing the Pool’s dining hours on Tuesday and Wednesday to dinner rather than lunch has given more members the ability to relax poolside longer, and members are telling us this small change has made a big difference. As we head into the final stretch of summer, we want to thank our members for making this such a memorable season at the Pool. The positive response to our service improvements and the continued growth in member engagement tell us we are moving in the right direction, and we are excited to keep building on that momentum. Here's to soaking up every last bit of sunshine — we will see you poolside.

BOATHOUSE

SUMMER FUN By Boatmaster Ted Thiessen & Dockhand Jack MacLeod Forecasts have been all over the map — blazing hot days one moment, downpours out of nowhere the next, unpredictability at every turn. And through it all, the Boathouse has seen record-breaking activity. Rentals are at an all-time high, and the fishing pole racks sit empty as kids line the docks, rods in hand, with eager sunfish schooling just below. This is a summer to remember, and it's not over yet. Fishing Freshly stocked trout have been showing up on the ends of anglers' lines all season, with a few holdover browns mixed in for good measure. Congratulations to Chris Dollbaum and Jeremy Kidde on their amazing catches. Our Spring Bass Derby champion, Anthony Monaco, brought in three bass totaling 12 pounds, 5 ounces. The Summer Kids' Derby is in full swing, and the Fall Bass Derby kicks off September 1st. Family Fun Have you ever seen parents happier to get a s'more than their kids? There have been more than a few giddy adults cutting in line to show the kids how it's really done. One evening brought the joy of watching a son paddle his mom out in a kayak to take in the sunset. Another couple has made a habit of winding down after a busy workday with a paddle across the still evening water as the sky fades into a beautiful array of colors. A grandson asked to spend his birthday fishing with Grandpa, what a memory to have made. And there was the squeal of "I got one!" as a daughter landed her first fish from the Boathouse docks, a moment she won't forget. Did you know the Boathouse also has a game and book shelf? We even have Boathouse-themed word searches and coloring pages for the kids. Just ask!

BOATHOUSE

Boat Baskets and Coolers Whether you're out on the water or relaxing at the Boathouse, let us do the work. Choose from four food basket options, add any drinks you like, and we'll have everything ready to go. Just book your reservation and cruise off into the evening. Sailing Sailing over the ocean blue... well, Tuxedo Lake, anyway. The breezes have been sailing-friendly this season, with a very consistent southerly wind that's ideal for tacking upwind and then cracking off the sheets for a fast reach back to the Boathouse. It has been a joy watching newcomers learn to read the wind and find their point of sail. With four Optis, a Sunfish, an RS Zest, and a 420 rigged and ready, there are plenty of boats to go around for sharpening your skills. Rowing is something truly unique to a club like ours, and interest keeps growing, whether as a workout or a whole new way to experience the Lake. This has been our biggest year for rowing yet, with members learning alongside our expert instructor, Michael Martinov, as well as taking the oars on their own and coming back for more. The fifth annual 1886 Regatta is scheduled for October 11 th - a true test of skill, The competition sees it all on Tuxedo Lake, with the unique course layout and a day of camaraderie you won’t want to miss. The Boathouse is open, the Lake is calling, and this summer is not done showing off just yet. See you at the Boathouse!

GOLF

GOLF UPDATE By Chris Muldoon, Director of Golf

As we approach the final stretch of summer, let’s look back on the first few months of the season and recognize some of our recent tournament champions. The Men’s Invitational was a huge success as a full field of 120 players enjoyed three days of golf, camaraderie, and competition. Ron Fuerst & guest Chris Murphy outdueled nine other flight winners in the Flight Champions Shoot-Out. Murph’s tap-in par putt on the first extra hole of the sudden-death true alternate-shot format secured the victory for his team. Notably, it marked the duo’s second Invitational title, having previously captured the championship in 2018.

GOLF UPDATE Some of our other “Silver” trophy winners included: In our first Mixed event of the season, Jack & Peggy Horney (Members since 1979) finally added their names to the McVickar Cup after nearly five decades of Club membership, friendships, and competition. Avinash Rawoot birdied holes #8 & #11 and added just five blemishes (bogeys) en route to a score of 74 (68, Net) and his first deRham Cup victory (18-Hole Individual Net Stroke Play for Members under the age of 55). After an injury setback over the winter, Jasjit Singh returned to form to win the Hay Cup (18-Hole Individual Stroke Play for Members 55 years of age and older) by a narrow one-stroke margin with a score of 69 Net. In the first Ladies’ 18-Hole silver event of the season, Sunhi Hong won her first Laurie Zellweger silver plate with 32 stableford points! Entering the final day with a five-shot lead, Joette Fullerton & Kellie Baldwin held off Defending Champions Maureen Cook & Jill Johnson to win the (Ladies’ 18-Hole) Governor’s Cup for the fifth time in seven years. Robert Beers went wire-to-wire to his first Tomes Cup with a twoday gross tally of 152 (+10). · ·

GOLF

GOLF UPDATE Eddie Alexander erased a four-shot deficit down the stretch, fueled by three consecutive net birdies on holes #14 through #16, to overtake eventual Runner-Up Ron Fuerst and capture his first Mason Cup with a two-day net total of 136 (-6). Kellie Baldwin captured the Medalist trophy for the fifth time in the past ten years, dominating the field with a 13-shot victory with a 36-hole gross total of 185. Peggy Horney won the Eleanor Madronal trophy in three different decades, with previous victories in 1997, 1999, 2006, 2007, and 2008, before adding the 2026 title with a 36-hole net total of 156. Most recently, Mark Arduino and Gerry Eichman tied atop the leaderboard when competing against the golf course in the individual match play versus par (net) format of the Ramapo Valley Cup. A couple of weeks later, in early August, they returned to settle the Ramapo Valley Cup in a sudden-death playoff on a sweltering Friday afternoon where Gerry Eichman prevailed on the first playoff hole with a net birdie. In competition elsewhere, Tyler Cline continues to impress. Tyler earned qualifying medalist honors on August 6 th at Mohawk Golf Club and punched his ticket to the 45th U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship to be held at Sand Valley Resort in Wisconsin from September 26th through October 1st. “Cline, of Tuxedo, had a nearperfect front-nine as he birdied the third, sixth, and eighth holes. His only major slipup of the day came on the 10th hole where he bogeyed. Cline, a former Clarkson University golfer who now coaches his alma mater, went on to birdie 14 and 17. His round of four-under, 67, was comfortably the best in the 71-man field.” We’ll be rooting for you Tyler!

COURSE UPDATE By Casey Klossner, Director of Agronomy As we approach Labor Day weekend, I would like to take this opportunity to briefly reflect on the month of July. Heavy rainfall and high humidity were the most impactful components of the weather pattern we experienced at the golf course. In July alone, our property received over 10 inches of precipitation with significant rain events occurring each of the five weeks of the month. During this stretch, the golf course encountered a steady growth flush on all playing surfaces, particularly our primary rough. Keeping up with routine mowing and conditioning has been a challenge, and I must thank our staff for battling the elements on a weekly basis. Most notably, the performance of our bunkers has been exceptional. Instead of taking days to repair bunker washouts and detail work after heavy rain, our staff can quickly and efficiently maintain the bunkers in a matter of a few hours and resume other course preparations to get the course open and playable. Had our bunkers not been renovated in 2022, we may have had to close the golf course as many as four times in July of 2026. It was an absolute “home run” in the realm of capital improvements. Indirectly, this season has truly shown the need for additional water sources to support the irrigation system, which can be seen throughout the property by the current health of our primary rough. In past seasons, the rough this time of year is in a state of decline and has turned brown, sparse and unsightly. Fortunately, because of all of the rain this year, this is not the case this season.

1886 Magazine | Page 59

GOLF

COURSE UPDATE As you may know, the Club has engaged the services of Weston and Sampson (WSP), an engineering firm that is in the process of developing well locations that will ultimately supply additional water for our irrigation pond. This will enable us to more effectively water the golf course during the driest times of the season and adhere to water withdrawal permit guidelines recently set forth by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) . In September of 2026, WSP will be drilling test wells to find productive pockets of usable irrigation water. This process will be communicated later in August, so stay tuned! Lastly, due to member feedback, the Board of Governors has approved capital funding to soften the “bowl” area on the front left of #9 green to create more pin locations. Labar Golf Renovations will complete the work quickly in mid-October. Post-completion, the front left of #9 green will be roped off and play will not be permitted on the area for the remainder of the 2026 season and into the spring of 2027. The right side of the green will remain open for play during this time. Subsequent reminders will be communicated to the membership later this season. The end of summer is rapidly approaching and there is still a lot of golf left to be played! I look forward to seeing all of you out on the golf course.
