BEST NATURAL REMEDY FOR COLDS, CONGESTION AND COUGHS!

For years I have been making this remedy to combat the dreaded winter woes. This recipe came from a Medical Herbalist in NSW, Susan Quin back in the 90’s. It is great for colds, sore throats, congestion, coughs and bronchitis. I highly recommend it, so give it a go!

ONION SYRUP • Take one large onion and peel it. • Slice it into small sections. • Place in a bowl and sprinkle with sugar. • Let it stand for 3-4 hours. • Pour off the syrup from the onion into a jar or bottle with a lid. • Take one teaspoonful every half hour for acute conditions, or as required. • Store in the refrigerator. Will keep for up to one week. Deb Quinn: www.permaculturenoosa.com.au

Love it or hate it dairy foods are highly nutritious and have kept people alive for thousands of years.

Today the recommendations for dairy foods vary with age and gender but in general for adults between 19-50, 2 1/2 serves per/day is suggested as a minimum. To put this in perspective one serve is as follows. • One glass of milk • 200g of yoghurt • 40g of cheese or 2 sandwich slices

Now if you are lactose intolerant or just not a dairy lover the following foods are the equivalent to 1 serve of dairy; • 100g of almonds with skin on • 60g of sardines in water • ½ cup of pink salmon with bones • 100g firm tofu (check label as calcium levels vary)

Dairy foods are packed with essential nutrients that are necessary for both a healthy immune, and nervous system, healthy eyesight and muscle growth and repair throughout the body. Not only are dairy foods a good source of calcium but they are also a great source of protein, magnesium, potassium, zinc, vitamin A and vitamin B12, just to name a few.

Did you know that calcium absorption goes hand in hand with your Vitamin D levels? In other words you may be having plenty of calcium rich dairy foods but if your Vitamin D levels are low you will not be absorbing the calcium into the areas of the body where it is needed the most, and this can lead to various health issues throughout life.

Oh, and one more thing, just because there is a glass and a half of full cream dairy milk in blocks of Cadbury chocolate, it is not considered a dairy food. Remember you are what you eat! www.foodtrition.com.au

Change your life quickly

MOVE from overwhelm into focused, happy and relaxed with hypnotherapy and mindset coaching

Hypnotherapy can assist you in changing your life quickly, effectively and supportively.

In your younger years you have undoubtedly taken on beliefs, habits, coping mechanisms and outdated programming that at one stage helped you deal with life.

As you have grown and matured these coping mechanisms no longer benefit you and in fact have a negative impact on your life, however, as hard as you try you can’t seem to break the pattern or habit.

Hypnotherapy and coaching can be very helpful in alleviating these outdated programs and replace them with new updated ones that positively enhance your life, quickly and effectively.

Over the years hypnosis has received a skeptical response mainly due to stage hypnotist’s ability to make people seemingly to do things against their will on stage. You can be assured when participating in hypnotherapy you are always in full control. Hypnosis has been likened to that of guided meditation, where your conscious (computer) mind temporarily takes a back seat your unconscious (software) mind.

After each session you will have gained a new level of self awareness, have easy to use techniques to use in your daily life and lastly you will feel relaxed, calm and motivated.

Most people find that two to four sessions comprehensively address the areas they would like positive change in and also effectively equip them with strategies to move forward in their life.

Hypnotherapy can change lives by assisting you to overcome trauma, stress, anxiety, fears, grief, depression, unhelpful habits and much more. Individualised, supportive and effective sessions meet you where you are and assist you towards living a life you deserve. Some people do value the relaxing and centered feeling they experience following a hypnotic coaching session and choose to book sessions on an ongoing basis as part of their self care routine. A supportive space

SINCE COVID we have all felt in many ways as if the rug has been pulled from underneath us. Fear and uncertainty have become the new norm and it has a ripple effect into our everyday lives. However, there is opportunity to combat the adverse effects of the pandemic. Coming to the gym, for many, is a safe haven, and sometimes the only place we can go without totally isolating ourselves. Beyond Blue CEO Georgie Harman stated that incoming calls to their service had increased since 2019 by upwards of 60% throughout the months of April and May, and 47% in the month of June. Although we are not trained psychologists, personal trainers have oftentimes taken on the role of councillor, as we are always ready to talk or lend an ear. The gym environment in itself is a supportive safe place. It provides goals and purpose which sustain motivation and focus in challenging times.

“For me going to the gym is much more than exercise. It is an opportunity to see friends and familiar faces, participate in an activity with like-minded people, dissipate pent-up frustration with restrictions and lockdowns. I come away from the gym knowing I have done my body, mind and spirit a favour” (Anne Winning.) Anne is one among many who prioritises physical, emotional and mental wellbeing throughout these trying times. Many members at Anytime Fitness Cooroy have expressed to us that the structure, mental health benefits and motivation that gym provides them with has lessened the effects of the pandemic on their lives. Many have said it has been so important that it takes priority, even over lack of income! Exercise is scientifically proven to release serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain. These ‘happy hormones’ help with anxiety and depression, and improve our overall wellbeing, ultimately aiding us in our working life, personal life, and coping with everyday stress.

We can focus on things we can do here and now. Compassion and respect for all of humanity is what will get us through this uncertainty. By bringing people together, staying in a form of routine and keeping active, we can create the foundation for ourselves and the community to come out of this mentally and physically stronger.
