To shape policy, you need to be in the right place at the right time. Our proximity to Oregon’s center of government positions our students to have an impact. Being located so close to the Oregon State Capitol, the Oregon Supreme Court, multiple state agencies, and many law firms offers our students the chance to gain meaningful legal training, build connections, and set themselves up for long-term employment. Our students have contributed to legislation, secured externships with lawmakers, conducted legal research, and participated in legal proceedings in the courtroom.
“One of the great things about being at Willamette and what drew me initially is being so close to the Capitol. The school is such a big part of the Oregon legal community, the state government and the city of Salem. I’ve been able to see a lot of what goes on in the government and legal community in Oregon, and I’m excited to become a lawyer and be a part of that. I really feel at home here.”
