Letter from the Board President
Hello Neighbors,
It doesn’t seem possible that it has been three years since I was elected to your Board of Directors and that two years has gone by as President. I remember my first board meeting in January of 2019 when my biggest decision was which chair to sit in. I can truly say that it has been a rewarding experience to serve on the board with perhaps the best part being able to have an up close, behind-the-scenes look at the work our great employees do daily. It’s easy to take their work for granted when we are simply enjoying a meal at the Clubhouse or playing golf or tennis and only interact with a few staff members. It takes over a hundred employees to keep Wexford running each day and I can say from personal experience that these folks do their best to provide us with a great experience. Thank them whenever you get the chance. It’s been an eventful three years. No one could have possibly anticipated the impact Covid-19 would have on our everyday lives and the everyday functions here at Wexford. It seems as if the board was receiving different guidance weekly, if not daily, from the various government agencies regarding Covid protocols we should implement. The planned monthly board meetings were supplemented with weekly board meetings to deal with the uncertainty. Should we close the Clubhouse or open the Clubhouse with limited service, allow golf, tennis and the pool to be open in some fashion were questions we wrestled with daily. I think the best decision the board made during that time was to keep all our employees and find work for them during the uncertainty. Most of our peers in the Lowcountry made a different decision then struggled to get their employees back when restrictions eased. A lot of good things have happened in the last three years. We completed the very popular new pool and pool bar complex. A new irrigation system was installed on the golf course to replace the existing system that was over 30 years old and failing. We finished the Clubhouse entrance relocation and within a few weeks will be finished with a new four-court

lighted pickleball complex and will have finished installing lighting on all our tennis courts. We finished a project to completely replace the substandard wiring and service pedestals in our harbour and accelerated replacement of pier decking to coincide with the wiring project. There have been big changes in the management team with the arrival of Ryan Spence as our Chief Operating Officer, hiring of Ian Munroe as our Director of Club Operations, and completely remaking the food service with the hiring of Chef Josh Goetz and his new support staff in the kitchen. We are on the verge of starting the David Jackson Wexford Home Services division President which I think will prove to be very popular. Wexford property owners will be able to contract directly with Wexford for weekly pool service with landscaping service and installation to follow. And it is my hope that at least some of the new amenities proposed in the Facilities Plan will be built in the near future so we can have even more great experiences here at Wexford. I have to thank my fellow Board of Directors members for their dedication to duty and all the work that goes on at board meetings, committee meetings, workshops, etc. And I would like to especially thank the board members for their support during my last two years as your President. The President at Wexford only votes in the case of a tie on board issues and I have not voted once in the last two years. Yes, there have been many lively debates with opinions expressed on both sides of an issue, which I frankly think is the way the board should operate, but at the end of all the debate the board has come together and presented a united front to whatever issue we have faced. I wish future boards the same camaraderie in dealing with the challenges they will surely face. I’ll end by wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season and lots of fun and success in all your endeavors.
All the best, David
