raveling through Forest Park, six steeples keep watch, and many of them have roots back to days of the Village of Harlem. See how many you can identify. (Answers on page 29)

St. John’s Church, founded in 1862, has the largest steeple, dedicated in 1914, is the most recognizable with a spire, lantern, belfry and tower.

St Paul’s Thai Lutheran Church on Dixon has foundational roots back to 1879, and the steeple built in the 1890s.

Once known as the First German Baptist Church of Chicago the Forest Park Baptist church showcases architect H. G. Fiddelke which can be seen prominently on Harlem Ave.

Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Christ fills the landmark building formerly known as St. Peter’s at Adams and Hannah.

Chicagoland Christian Center serves the community in the former Pioneer Chapel which was erected in 1900 at the corner of Beloit and Lexington.

St. Bernardine Catholic Church which was established in 1911 and the present church was dedicated in 1940 can be seen from the Eisenhower Expressway.
