Langley Dale

Happy New Year to all our Marlborough VCC team, I trust you all had a peaceful, restful and enjoyable Christmas and this has continued into the New Year. Let’s hope this New Year 2022 will give us the freedom to get out, mix and enjoy the old car motoring we have missed over the last year or two. Club captain Catherine is trying hard to find new and interesting outings for us, please think hard and make a suggestion if you know of somewhere interesting or a place we haven’t visited for a long time. The recent Langley Dale visit was a great place to visit, my memory says we last visited there in the late 80s and we all enjoyed another visit and the interesting history. I think we are all well and truly over the rules and frustrations of Covid and how / what to do “ the right thing” I’m still unsure. I attended an invited only funeral this morning numbers at the service were probably 50 and signed in, then a similar number of people at the graveside. Then to a family home / garden for lunch. Numbers there were 60 to 100,not a mask, vac certificate in sight and vac’d and unvac’d all mixing. Who knows what was correct here and no one seemed to mind. The Covid system we have been following at the last two Wednesday meetings seems to be working fine so, thanks for abiding by the rules. Over the last six months we have had several of our members, or family of members pass away. I can think of 5, however I won’t names as there may be others I don’t know of. To all these families who have lost loved ones, the Marlborough VCC extends our sincere condolences to you. Many of these people have been longtime members who have put a lot of time and effort into the club in its earlier days, some 40/50 year members and have owned/motored some very nice vehicles as well. We have all gained from the friendship and knowledge of these people in our club. Thankyou to those members who have stood and spoken at little of their earlier life and an interesting / funny life story. The idea behind this was to get to know each other a little better and so far, this has had a great response. If I ask you to add your bit to the Wednesday morning tea, please don’t be shy, it’s not a difficult thing to do and we’ve all got a heap of humorous things that have happened to us through our lives or people / work stories. Also we are all interested and enjoy a laugh. Enjoy our summer, keep well ,and we will see you at the next VCC outing, Cheers Rob
