colofonia charter school 2020 Colofonia is a design response to Cleveland’s request to redevelop a corner lot in the Woodhill area neighborhood. This charrette was to maintain skill set during pandemic recovery from lockdowns. The concept is a 3 to 4 phase development to visualize a charter school and mixed-use building addition that encourage community interaction and student exploration. Phase 1 - Construction Inspired by Montessori’s emphasis on material interaction, the curriculum structure is influenced by pine rosin applications. The development of program outlines the interior requirements of the structure for completion. Phase 2 - Atrium Material Addition The atrium material addition is a 2nd layer of glazing added to the curtain wall system; pre-designed in phase 1 to support electrical in the mullion system. Phase 3/4 - Building Addition The mixed-used structure includes a custom performance space, with signature lighting panel installations (fabricated from the demolished brick of the existing building -- if possible), tenant space for future small business development, and resources for public use to provide equal access to visitors, alumni, and locals.
