The Boy Scouts of America has filed for bankruptcy so that it can continue to operate as it struggles to reorganize its infrastructure and finances. The filing comes amid dropping membership, lost partnerships, and thousands of sexual abuse lawsuits for the 110-year old youth organization. Experts said the suit could be one of the most complex American bankruptcy cases in history.

DAILY BRIEFING Washington Post executive editor Martin “Marty” Baron will speak at Harvard’s 369th commencement ceremony on May 28, according to a University statement released Tuesday. Baron will also receive an honorary degree from the University in May. In other news, as the College searches for five new pairs of faculty deans for its upperclassmen houses, Dean of the College Rakesh Khurana justified appointing tenured faculty to those positions in an interview Tuesday.
Attorney General William Barr has expressed dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump’s tweets about the U.S. Justice Department, according to White House insiders. In the event that the President continues publicizing matters of federal law enforcement, Barr has told Trump administration officials and others he will quit his position as Attorney General.
Driver Ryan Newman Reportedly Awake Following Violent Daytona 500 Crash
During the Daytona 500, NASCAR’s first race of the season, on Monday, driver Ryan Newman was critically injured after a crash that flipped his car several times in the air. Newman, the 2008 Daytona 500 winner and 18-time Cup Series titleholder, was airlifted to Halifax Medical Center, and his injuries are not life-threatening. authorities arrived on the scene.
AROUND THE IVIES CORNELL The Cornell Faculty Senate introduced a resolution supporting fossil fuel divestment last Wednesday, the Cornell Sun reported Monday. The faculty will vote on the resolution on March 11. The resolution proposes that Cornell make no further investment in fossil fuels, and that it withdraw its existing investments “in an orderly manner and as rapidly as possible.”

Princeton sophomore Andrew Xu has taken on the maintenance of a forgotten fossil collection, the Daily Princetonian reported on Tuesday. Princeton obtained the fossils over the course of late-19thcentury expeditions to Wyoming, Patagonia, and Montana. The fossils were put into a storage facility in 1990. Xu spent the summer after his first year at Princeton cataloguing and reorganizing the fossils. “My current project is to catalog this information and digitize it for future research,” Xu told the Princetonian.

Yale New Haven Hospital is facing a lawsuit brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for alleged age discrimination, the Yale Daily News reported on Tuesday. According to the lawsuit, the hospital submitted clinicians over the age of 70 to additional screening when they applied for re-appointment. A hospital spokesperson told the Yale Daily News that the hospital would defend its policy, which it said is designed to protect patients.
