ack in June, Donna Karan, creator of the eponymous DKNY clothing label and owner of Sag Harborâs Urban Zen, interviewed the East Hampton-based, mixed-media artist Beth OâDonnell about an African wildlife project the two are working on. After falling in love with OâDonnellâs beautiful lakeside property, DK knew sheâd love to do a photo shoot there for Urban Zen. Located on 16 Main Street in Sag Harbor, Urban Zen sells apparel, accessories, artisanal home items, and body and skin-care products that reflect DKâs tribal, chic design vision and her philosophy of living. The bohemian shop is where creativity and conscious consumerism meet community, wellness, and social impact. Through the Urban Zen Foundation, for example, the brand has cared for childrenâs well-being and given them tools to face obstacles and provided opportunities by integrating mind, body, and spirit into learning. Urban Zen collaborates with childrenâs organizations to create yoga, art, nutrition, and meditation programs. âUrban Zen is my passion,â says DK. âItâs where all the things I care most about come together: creativity, compassion, and community. Itâs a connection of past, present, and future.â DKâs wish came true when she had a photo shoot with OâDonnellâs lake as a backdrop. In the wide-open greenery, models posed in Urban Zenâs
