WHAT THE!~
ETIQUESTIONS Dr. Barbara Baggerly-Hinojosa
I keep hearing about rules for wearing white. Can you help me understand when I can and when I should not wear white? Depending on where you live and when you were born, you may get different answers to this question. But, if you are more of a traditionalist, you may consider these tips: 1) Don’t wear white to a wedding, ever! 2) Wear off-white in cool weather, and save white for warm weather 3) Avoid white clothing in city environments where you have to walk to work, etc. White gets dirty quickly. 4) Wear white clothing between Memorial Day and Labor Day as that is considered summer.
I am excited to finally be able to attend a wedding in April. What is the appropriate thing to wear to a spring wedding? Spring is coming and with it, the official start of wedding season. While it is tempting to wear spring sandals and strapless dresses, the weather during April is always a gamble. Consider using a shawl so you can drape it around your shoulders in case it gets cool. Additionally, consider wearing shoes like pumps that cover your feet as opposed to sandals.
Can you remind me about flatware etiquette. I can never remember which fork to use first. The pandemic has forced us all to rethink how we socialize. You may try scheduling one-on-one video calls with friends with the purpose of catching up. You can also try scheduling time to play online games or do virtual activities with your family and friends. Finally, always evaluate the risk of any in-person activities and make sure to follow the latest guidance from CDC.
