When we talk about “J-horror” the first image that comes to mind is probably that of a woman with long black hair in a white long dress lurking behind unsuspected people and scaring them to death. There are actually a large number of supernatural creatures that are related to “J-horror”, ranging from vengeful female ghost like Oiwa to disgruntled early Heian court official. In this talk audience members will be introduced to the fascinating world of J-horror characters and what have they done to be classified as “horror.” About Dr Lim Beng Choo Dr Lim Beng Choo is Associate Professor at the Department of Japanese Studies, NUS. Other than teaching courses on Japanese film and anime, she also researches on digitisation and traditional Japanese theatre, as well as Chinese elements in traditional Japanese theatre.
