Shafaat Pirani

Over the last 10 years, Dr. Shafaat Pirani has served as a Pharmacy Preceptor at BRIDGE Healthcare Clinic, a non-profit student-run interdisciplinary clinic in Tampa. His advisory role to pharmacy student clinic directors is primarily in workflow design and clinical operations This includes demonstrating how to interview patients and coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team, challenging students’ knowledge and understanding of basic principles of pharmacotherapy, and educating students on proper SOAP (Subjective/Objective/Assessment/Plan) note charting in patient electronic health records

Dr. Pirani also served as a Geriatrics Preceptor to fourth-year students (for seven six-week rotations with two students per block) at the University of South Florida Taneja College of Pharmacy for three years He developed a curriculum that included weekly topic presentations, journal club, drug information requests, and other learning opportunities to offer a robust geriatric practice experience He educated and assessed students’ knowledge on the fundamentals of geriatric care, on the principles of medication therapy management, and on conducting targeted intervention programs (TIPS)

Additionally, Dr Pirani served as a Pharmaceutical Compounding Preceptor at the University of Florida and the University of South Florida for fourth-year students, overseeing seven six-week rotations with four to five students each He improved experiential program curriculum development, taught students best practices in USP-795 Non-Sterile Compounding, and challenged their understanding of non-sterile drug delivery design and proper counseling techniques

Dr. Piriani’s Education

Dr Shafaat Pirani earned his Doctorate from the University of South Florida College of Pharmacy in Tampa in 2015 and worked towards a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2011.

Philanthropy

Dr. Shafaat Pirani is active within the local community and is currently a donor to the University of South Florida Taneja College of Pharmacy, with its Dean's Reception area named after him For five years, Dr Pirani donated to the Aga Khan Nazrana Fund and continues to donate to his church on a regular basis.
