Year 12 Drama Camp

Year 12 HSC Drama students attended their Drama Camp last weekend at The Collaroy Centre. They participated in a circus skills workshop from Swoop Physical Theatre and watched 'The Stones' a play for young people produced by 'Shock Therapy theatre Company' that highlighted the importance of staging an engaging narrative through clear characters and transformational acting. Devising work was facilitated by their Drama teachers' Mr Hodgson and Mr Montgomery. The students produced some excellent performance work to kick start their Group Performances that will be presented to the HSC examiners in August. Congratulations to all the students for their outstanding commitment to the process.

BASSETT & HERITAGE - Year 11 Drama Production

Last week the Year 11 Drama students staged two one act plays; 'Bassett' by James Graham and 'Heritage' by Daffyd James at the Middle School Drama Studio directed by their teachers Will Hodgson and Chris Montgomery. Both plays featured outstanding acting skills from the current Year 11 Drama cohort. Students performed with total belief and conviction as they brought their characters to life. This was raw, urgent and exhilarating theatre about young people dealing with the themes of war, terrorism, enforced Nationalism, conformity and surveillance in today's post 9/11 world.

Congratulations to all students involved!

Music News

Congratulations to the 260 students across the school who submitted video entries into our Piano, Strings, Wind & Brass, and Percussion sections of this year's Instrumental Competition. Our adjudications are busily reviewing videos and providing feedback, and we look forward to sharing more news in the coming weeks.

Vocal Competition

This is our final reminder that entries into this year's Vocal Competition (Unamplified) are due next week. In the first stage, an external adjudicator will assess the video entries and all entrants will receive written feedback and RHAP points for their participation. A selection of entrants, as determined by this external adjudicator, will be invited to perform at the finals evening on June 6. Entries are due by 3pm on Friday, May 19 (end of Week 3).
