TAKING GOOD CARE OF YOUR HOME A little good news today! During these uncertain times, it’s so encouraging to hear some good news. As many of you know, for the past two years I have been with Real Estate Experts. As much as I appreciated the opportunity to work with them, there comes a point when you just know it’s time for you to take the plunge and go out on your own. I am now the owner and Broker-in-charge of WindChime Realty & Property Management, LLC. I will remain in Alamance County and continue to be available to help with your real estate needs.
REGULAR MAINTENANCE TIPS
Your home is one of your largest investments, whether you plan to make it your forever home or plan to sell it in a few years. Either way, it is going to require regular maintenance. Following is a short list of items all you homeowners should always pay attention to so your investment stays in good condition — which helps it hold its value, and keeps you and your family safe!
ROOF: Weather can cause unseen damage to your roof, so have a professional check the shingles at least once a year to make sure none have come loose. CRAWLSPACE: Dampness underneath your house can weaken floor joists and potentially cause mold growth. I often recommend hiring a professional to seal the crawlspace; however, this can be costly so, at a minimum, hire a professional to inspect for mold and moisture damage at least once a year. SUPPORT: The main support of your house consists of footings and piers. Settling can cause these to sink. You want these looked at every couple of years. GUTTERS: Gutters & downspouts are designed to keep water flowing away from the structure. You may need additional drain pipes or ground plates underneath downspouts to divert water away from the foundation. HVAC: An HVAC system can last well beyond its life expectancy if you properly maintain it. Hire a professional to service the unit every year and you will get many years out of it.
