Fueled by Friendship
As someone who built formative and meaningful friendships through Pi Phi, VERONICA MILLIKEN BOGGS hopes to extend the same gift to her sisters. Read more about her experience as the Region One Community Relations Specialist and how mentoring collegians has helped her find fulfillment in giving back.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PI PHI MEMORY?
Watching the 2024 Olympics this summer reminded me of when I watched the 2008 Olympics live in the middle of the night with my sisters—and that’s only one of my very favorite memories!
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO VOLUNTEER FOR PI PHI?
I continue to volunteer because I see the value in collegians having women leaders within their chapters. I am thankful I can focus time on that with the Region One Team currently.
HOW HAVE YOUR VOLUNTEER ROLES SHAPED YOU?
Pi Phi events are always well managed and organized, and I have noticed the attention to detail Pi Phi puts into everything. I want to replicate that in my professional life.
WHAT ARE THE MOST CHALLENGING AND REWARDING PARTS ABOUT SERVING PI PHI?
The most challenging part is helping collegians understand it is important to take a pause and seek guidance before responding to something. However, it’s so rewarding to see chapters succeed with recruitment, philanthropy events or sisterhood activities. I also love watching Pi Phis graduate and seeing what they do next in life.
HOW HAS PI PHI MADE AN IMPACT ON YOUR LIFE?
My best friends are Pi Phis—they are the women I talk with about everything. I cannot imagine my life without the friendships I’ve built in Pi Phi.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT OUR SISTERHOOD?
Pi Phi has been consistently fun for me! I love meeting new sisters, spending time with those I met in my member class and knowing I will always enjoy myself when I’m with my sisters.
AS A PI PHI VOLUNTEER YOURSELF, WHY DO YOU THINK STAYING ENGAGED WITH OUR SISTERHOOD IS SO IMPORTANT?
I credit Pi Phi for the amazing friendships I have, and I stay engaged because I want other young women to have the platform to develop those types of friendships too.
Supporting our sisterhood can look different for every member. Whether you’re paying your alumnae dues, serving in a volunteer role or giving to Pi Beta Phi Foundation— you make a difference for Pi Phi. If you’re interested in volunteering, explore opportunities at pibetaphi.org/volunteer.
