Outskirts Press Inc. has published “Nailed!: Moral Injury: A Response from the Cross of Christ for the Combat Veteran,” by Palm Coast author Mark J. Schreiber. The color paperback is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and www.outskirtspress. com/Nailed. Violence in combat assaults the psyche, confuses the ethics and tests the soul. The combat wounds that military can suffer are not only physical but often spiritual: wounds to the soul and conscience from perceived violations of moral norms. Over time, moral injury can devastate the warrior’s mental health like a poison. Warriors deal with eternity. Their actions save the life of their buddy here and end the life of the enemy there, but both are human beings. Mark J. Schreiber is an emeritus Lutheran pastor and was a Navy chaplain from 1980 to 2005. He and his wife, Connie, have three daughters and six grandchildren.
