Canada’s Agriculture Day – February 22, 2022 Forks up Canada! The Perth County Federation of Agriculture (PCFA) as well as the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) and the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) are proud to have Canadian farmers who produce among the safest, high-quality food that feeds our country and the world. In May, 2021 the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity (CCFI) announced February 22, 2022 as the date for Canada’s Agriculture Day. Canada’s Agriculture Day is a day designated for our country to come together to recognize and celebrate the men and women who produce the food that Canadians, and people around the globe, love to eat. “Canada’s Agriculture Day is a great opportunity for all of us to show our appreciation for the individuals who are the backbone of the food system,” said John Jamieson, CCFI President and CEO. PCFA would like to encourage everyone to join in this national celebration and try creative
ways to show your support for our vibrant Canadian agriculture. Canada’s Agriculture Day started in 2016 and was launched as a day of celebration for farmers. Canada’s Agriculture Day, led by Agriculture More Than Ever, has developed a very strong social media presence since its inception in 2017. Canadians from coast-to-coast can show the love through media channels with the official hashtag #CdnAgDay. Whether you are online, in person or at home, there will be various ways for all of us to honour Canadian agriculture and food on February 22, 2022. #CdnAgDay brings special attention to our agricultural industry and the pride we share in growing food. The organizers are encouraging everyone to mark the day in their own way, to celebrate Canadian agriculture in engaging and fun ways from home. How you celebrate is up to you! You can create your own mouth-watering moments using
Canadian products. Try checking out Farm & Food Care’s Virtual Farm Tours at https://www.farmfood careon.org/fieldtrips/ to learn more about a variety of farm-related operations. At meal time get inspired with some delicious ideas from any of Ontario’s Commodity Organizations recipe options. And if you are a local farmer show us moments from your farm or in Perth County you are proud of local agriculture. Just have fun, show your ag pride and make some noise on social media for Canadian food! Don’t forget to cook an all-Canadian food meal, post a photo or video celebrating Canadian Agriculture or even a “Fork Up” selfie! Use the hashtag #CdnAgDay and post with pride on your social media account.
