I looked straight into the eyes of despair, He tried to convince me he wasn’t there, When I looked at him all the same, And tried to warn those susceptible to pain, He told me “hush, don’t tell them I was ever here.” The moment it started to go south, Was the moment that I shut my mouth, Because he stole all the hurting people’s ability to care, Because all the hurting people felt as though no one cared.
