The new DLR research institute "Systems Engineering for Future Mobility" is located in Oldenburg, in the state Lower Saxony, northern Germany. The Institute has its roots in the IT research institute OFFIS e. V., which is also based in Oldenburg. The "Transport" department of the OFFIS institute was transferred to the new DLR-SE institute to manage the research opportunities in the field of computer science methods and tools for the improve verification and validation of automated traffic systems (road, rail, ship). The transfer of the OFFIS e. V. "Transport" area in the new DLR institute has not yet been completed, which is why this is here the research boat advertised by the OFFIS e. V. is bought.
