Eberspächer water heaters for new narrowboats
OCEAN FOOTPRINT PARTNERS WITH FLOW MARINE
Canal boat specialists have chosen Eberspächer water heaters for installation on board their new narrowboats. Boating Leisure Services and Heyfordfields are just about to complete a bespoke 70ft narrowboat and have chosen an Eberspächer Hydronic II M8 biodiesel heater to work alongside traditional radiators. All of the company's boats use Eberspächer Hydronic heaters. Beacon Park Boats have recently launched a new luxury vessel for hire on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal in South Wales. Like the company's existing offering the new Falcon will be fitted with Eberspächer Hydronic heating. Another boat in Brecon's fleet, the Owl, has a second Hydronic system to heat a Jacuzzi on the foredeck. Eberspächer water heaters work independently of the engine and therefore offer the double bonus of pre-heating both the vehicle's passenger compartment and engine. In summer the same technology can be used to provide pre-cooling. Controlled by a digital timer or radio remote control, the heaters are integrated in the cooling water system of the engine. The thermal energy gained is absorbed by the vehicle's own heat exchanger and distributed into the interior as warm air through existing air vents. The engine is warmed up with the residual heat in the cooling water.
Ocean Footprint has partnered with Flow Marine Systems in Florida to assist in developing marine air conditioning solutions having been taken on as sales agent for Flow Marine for the UK, Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Australasia. Ocean Footprint has employed Brian Arend based in Fort Lauderdale as global sales and technical support manager to help develop the brand. As part of the partnership and in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ocean Footprint has launched a range of fan coils that have evaporators made entirely from copper. The coils have a slot for the mounting of a UV air sterilisation system with the capability of killing 99.99% of viruses and germs. “A recent study by Southampton University

shows that copper alone has a 93.9% reduction of the virus within five minutes, whereas a stainless-
steel surface can remain infectious for well over an hour,” explained Ocean Footprint's Peter Harrison.
“The Lancet has suggested that the virus can survive up to seven days.” The fan coils are compatible with all other manufacturers' controls and are backwardly compatible, easy to install and developed to offer piece of mind to vessels operating as charters, providing safer environments. Ocean Footprint has a full range of chillers for chilled water systems that can be supplied to class rules as standard and can be built in multiple configurations to fit into tight spaces. Ocean Footprint has offices in Melbourne, Hainan, Hanoi, Rotterdam, Wilton UK, and Fort Lauderdale and can offer worldwide support for Flow Marine products.
NEW HOSE FROM ASAP SUPPLIES ASAP Supplies has introduced a new range of air conditioning and ventilation hose - Seaflow insulated ducting. The range is designed to greatly reduce condensation and heat dispersion. It also offers space saving benefits, unlike traditional air conditioning which contains bulky thick glass wool insulation, making it difficult to work with, explained Natasha Caston, head of marine marketing for the Arleigh Group, ASAP's parent company.
