uneven surfaces the sign predicted the status waiting for us. straight lines and simple turns aren’t ahead. the ground isn’t even. like life, the surface, our place of dependence, isn’t even. meaning what? a serious concern or a disruption of our preferences? actually, expectations can go unmet. often, security doesn’t seem secure. i don’t expect casualties, just adjustments, leaning slightly when needed, with curves and angles staring, not moving as they force our moves along the surface. Chris Maxwell served 19 years as lead pastor in Orlando, Florida, after five years of youth ministry. He’s now in his 15th year as Campus Pastor and Director of Spiritual Life at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia.
